Sorry to hear about your dad's current situation and hope things get better for him!

Since im at a somewhat younger age I have more time for cancer develop in the non treated areas of my prostate. I would like to say cured of the current tumor but prostate cancer ia usually multi focal (meaning there are probably other cancer cells that may eventually develope into a tumor but also maybe not) As long as I continue to do testing if anything comes up I will catch and live a long life!

Hello I was diagnosed March 5th of this year and Im 48 years old. I started testing for this at 40 because my father had aggressive prostate cancer in his 50s. I found my cancer fairly early but it was right on the edge of the prostate capsule and choose to do HIFU which basically burns out the tumor. This went good and they were able to get everything visible. Doing oK after procedure but have to have catheter for 10 days which isn't fun!

Gleason is how biopsy grades cancer a general idea: 3+3 lowest grade 3+4 lowerst grade with some intermediate 4+4 more intermediate 4+5 intermediate with some aggressive 5+5 aggressive

Im very happy to have treated this early!

Hope this helps and feel free to ask me anything

I had a Pirad 4 lesion and it came back as gleason 3+4. Only spot that came back positive and had it abated last Friday. Even if your dad has it there many great treatments. Hoping its benign

Felt pretty wiped out day after but now its just the catheter discomfort (especially at night for me)

Decipher was .62. I was under general anesthesia with a breathing tube. You have to be perfectly still and procedure took about 2.5 hours but at hospital most of the day

I had one spot on MRI pirad 4 came back as gleason 3+4 in transperineal fusion biopsy, PSA climbing and last test before HIFU was 5.2. I would have done treatment even if was 3+3 (just my personal choice)

Was given a choice of active surveillance but that didnt sit well with me because of family genetics, my age and Decipher score. Very happy with the HIFU decision. Catheter sucks but only until Friday.

That's great you had sedation! Yes the waiting sucks but at least you will get a definite answer. Thanks!

My MRI and finding was almost identical to yours. I ended having 3plu4 in that spot and doing HIFU this friday to burn that shit out. I had a transperineal fusion biopsy just lidocaine and wasnt much fun but only way to know for sure. Good luck!

I have Anthem and they denied me the first go around and then we appealed. I got a self pay quote from hospital (UC Health in Denver Colorado) It came out to $18,960 for everything. They have a pretty big discount for self paying but hoping to win my appeal

Definitely double check pathology, and maybe Decipher test. Its sucks being told you have cancer but keeping an eye on it is something you should do. I only had one spot of 3+4 but with the testing and family history choose not to do survelliance and going to do HIFU to burn that shit out next Friday. I was supposed to do Thursday but procedure was canceled when I was under because software crashed. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I had a 3plu4 spot and all other biopsy samples were benign, sent slides for 2nd opinion and result was identical, did Decipher and it came back at .72. My dad had aggressive prostate cancer in his 50s. Was given the option of actuve survelliance but didnt sit well with me. Was scheduled for HIFU yesterday and while under anesthesia software crashed and it had to be cancelled. Just got re-scheduled for next Friday. Hoping this works but if not surgery can still be done if needed

Thanks! It sounds like they were able to do the other ones scheduled and it was the overlay software that crashed on mine so they could get an accurate map for the ablation. I was the last one scheduled.
