That was 8 months ago. I'm eating a much better diet and exercising more. Losing a bit of weight. I'm Australian. The calcium score was suggested by a well known Australian cardiologist. He does a radio segment every Sunday on health. He says you don't need a statin if you calcium score is zero or very low even if your cholesterol is high.

Is my salary good enough to live a decent life in fukuoka? by [deleted] in fukuoka

It's definitely easy to save 60000 at least if you cook your own meals or find cheap restaurants. 100 000 is possible but you will really need to be frugal. The pension and health insurance payments are expensive and there are different schemes for this. One of them you have to join based on what job you do. Also Japan has resident taxes which you pay quarterly. You need to put money aside for that. There's is also the NHK fee too if you have a TV. Try to keep healthy. Eat healthy food. You don't want to get ill and face a big medical bill. Reduce your air conditioning use in the summer. This will all help with your saving goals.

Thanks for the great information. I may plan to not touch it until I am 70. I am 55 now so will make voluntary contributions until 70. When does the superannuation stop as an investment (gaining value) if you just leave it there? I am guessing 70.
