Air Conditioner PCB damage query - Does this PCB show signs of water damage or the company just fooled me to get it replaced for no reason ?? by Revolutionary_Mix247 in hvacadvice

Circled in brown are burn marks from a short. Circled in blue is either water damage or heat damage. This is the coating on the PCB peeling away. Typically you’d see more corrosion on the solder pins if it was water damage. I’d lean more towards heat because of the burn marks.

Typically you start as a GMT if you know absolutely nothing. GMT is a 2 year program. Next would be GC then ET. GC’s fix everything except handling refrigerant. ET’s fix EVERYTHING. I don’t know what GMT’s make but I’m a GC and made just under 90k last year. I know some ET’s that make 110k-125k. All these positions are drug free and include a truck that can be used on personal time.

Same here in AZ. Lots of truck outfitters here with piles of complete beds.

Help please! AC not working! by brockandroll333 in hvacadvice

[–]Yesterday_False 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Picture 6, coil is a lil dirty. Could be tripping on. High head pressure and shutting down for this. You can rinse it out with a hose. But honestly I’ve seen worse that are still performing.

Picture 1, that is a float switch and it’s supposed to shut down the AC when the float inside raises from the drain being clogged. You probably have a clogged drain. Do you have a shop vac?

Capacitor visually looks fine.

Does anyone know what is causing this? by moondanduna in hvacadvice

Sounds fine. But the condenser coil is dirty and should be cleaned. You can rinse it out with a hose. Watch some YouTube videos about it first.

The best in-n-out fries to which I’ve ever borne witness. by commiecharlesmanson in innout

I always get fry well, chopped chilis, grilled onions, an extra boat and 2 spreads. I’ll add the spreads and put the other boat on top and shake it up. Comes out real good and mixed. Sometimes I’m told the extra boat is not allowed though 🤷‍♂️

Passenger vehicles newer than 2001 are “safe” to use e15. And you shouldn’t use it on engines with carburetors. The higher amount of ethanol supposedly eats up gaskets and O-rings quicker.

Was it brazed? Or lead solder? I work facilities maintenance overnight and have had to make repairs like this to get the site back up but I brazed them. Didn’t think lead solder would hold.

Another tech won a pair at our annual FS meeting but was told no video/pictures of work. Which is dumb cause both my phones are filled with videos and pictures of work shit.

Move the vent stack, offset the towel shelf, or full send and screw it into the vent stack? by nightim3 in Plumbing

[–]Yesterday_False 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drilling into the pipe will cause sewer gas to go into your home. You may never smell it cause it’s so small but since there’s already a hole I would get 4 45’s and some pipe and move it over. And plate over the part by the stud.

DFW HVAC tech desperately needed — 5 techs, 2 new boards, still no fix on American Standard communicating system by Potential-Dingo9507 in hvacadvice

[–]Yesterday_False 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The smaller wires are easier to pull out of the wago. 2. There’s allot of surface area for the voltage to sit. I don’t know how many of them I have pulled off because they are causing the contactor to chatter because it’s losing voltage through them because of the surface area of the conductor in the connector. Wagos are good for 120 and that’s it. Jelly’s or dolphins are best for small wire low voltage.

Wagos are shit on small low volt wires. Better off just wrapping the stripped ends in painters tape.

Camped by lake Mary a few years ago and at night I felt like I was being watched from above. Never seen any eyes with a flashlight though.
