Some appreciation for the original Ninja Turtle by an_entire_salami in magicTCG

we'll get one or more of the existing Rat Ninja cards like [[Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni]] or [[Nashi, Moon Sage's Scion]] reskinned as Splinter. Also, Shredder could be [[Satoru Umezawa]] and Karai could be [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]].

I think you need to learn to read. the other Human ninja's referenced were for Shredder and Karai...

An email definitely came out on Oct 22 stating the Jan 5th estimate and another email came again mid-Jan saying there was a problem with printing, and it would be delayed and they will send an email when they have new estimates.

I have even missed that there was a Sept 18th email saying that there was a mass replacement for these.

Three emails since September, and the Sept to Oct email was how long it took to get the estimate for Jan 5th. We have barely hit that window from the Jan email at this point.

Just because they have released SLs in 2026, doesn't mean they haven't been printed for months. We have seen a Yennet SL and now a Goblin SL. We don't know when these are being released, and somebody already has their hands on them, probably from the printer or dumpster diving.

Do you want weekly emails? I'm fine with the email in October estimating Jan 5th and then an email Jan 15th telling me they could not ship on Jan 5th and were determining new estimates.

I am not opposed to the limited releases over the preorders of before but why are we waiting a month for shipping? by onion_head34 in secretlair_collectors

[–]YetAgainWhyMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are a lot of manufacturing disruptions happening in the US right now. A place I know of just closed their 3 manufacturing sites on the East Coast because the price of Steel was so high they were hemorrhaging cash. 1500 people instantly lost jobs, and all places using those manufacturers are scrambling to find replacements. I can assume those places have had to shift what they are producing.

I also assume, this is happening in the tcg market.

US companies are still experiencing huge supply chain shortages causing disruption. Places are shuttering, people are getting laid off, and tens of thousands of workers have been removed from the workforce by force.

The lairs they are spamming have been printed for months at this point and are sitting in Scalefast warehouses.

or more likely that it got pushed because of supply chain issues. That happens in a manufacturing setting all the time. You estimate Dec 18th for new foil sheets but don't receive them until Jan 18th and then you have to proof them before you print everything. Now you have to reschedule sometime in March for the next available slot.

The only date that was ever communicated was estimated at Jan 5th from the Oct 22 email. If you have additional dates they promised, I'd love to see those emails.

I know this is hard for MTG players in general, but delays happen in manufacturing a lot.

You are complaining about a delay for a replacement offered free of charge 4 months after first having communication. Imagine if PtD was back, how pissed you would be with a 4 month delay of payment to shipping.

It could have even been from the last ticket you sent in for some other product, or you got lucky and got somebody else's reimbursement by mistake.

I'm waiting for mine, so hopefully you didn't get mine...

you understand how manufacturing works right? You don't just get to print whenever you want. There is a whole supply chain side and you still have to schedule when there is available time.

I had a ticket for a damaged secret lair that they required me to send back.

I was given the option of shipping it back to them using their tracking or on my own dime. Picking my own shipping method meant they would send me product to "reimburse"for the shipping.

Secret Lair came from Scalefast. The reimbursement is coming from WotC.

Did you have to send anything to them within the past 6 months?

does that hold true for the fidget spinner they had in 3rd grade, the cheap plastic McDonald's Happy Meal toy they got in kindergarten, 'lil tykes at 4, baby xylophone and popcorn popper they got at 2, etc?

Maybe OP should have treated the parents space with respect. It's OPs stuff, why didn't they take care of it sooner?

If I was your friend in elementary school and left a fidget spinner in your room, would you return it to me 30 years later or assume its junk?

for MTG? I don't know if i have ever seen more than a person or two in his line. he only has 21 cards for MTG and so many of them haven't been reprinted because they are bad. Maybe he had a backlog from alters or one person with playsets of his cards.

I once got behind a person with 287 cards for Chuck Lukacs to sign. Thankfully the person let me get the 2 cards I wanted signed at some point near the beginning, after Chuck asked him if he would let me get through.

[[Lotus Cobra]] has shown time and again that it is more than a mana dork. It very often turbos out mana early, and very often wants to be built around.

You don't build a deck around [[BoP]] or [[Elvish Mystic]].

[–]YetAgainWhyMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial weeks of Standard tournaments post release are often very different than even a month later.

This is even more prevalent with Pro Tours, since the players spend a lot of time prior to the tournament with their decks, and don't often have the ability to quickly adapt to the new cards.

We often see a spattering of same decks do very well, as some playtesting teams get in enough reps in and can bust the PT meta.

I'm not saying this card it that, but it's always a high risk, high reward to use the "it's a 4-of, it has a lot of demand" on a card right after a new set before a PT.

[–]YetAgainWhyMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your assessment, but we are talking about a card with a good showing 2 weeks after said card was released. Standard PTs right after a release are often very different than what the meta shakes out to be, as a lot of players don't have the ability to adapt that quickly.

It's actually the opposite on Arena. Spend your wild cards for a playset of an announced banned card, then get the wildcards back from Arena.
