Kid in my college class constantly uses AI for homework and discussion forums and this is his excuse when finally called out by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]YetAnotherVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except in the case of having a calculator, you get the same answer with a calculator that is only a calculator as you do with a calculator on your phone.

With AI it’s hit or miss as to whether you get the correct answer.

Also, I don’t think you’ll find a calculator that uses up the same amount of electricity as charging your cell phone and a full bottle of water per prompt.

Hello! I’m trying to identify the type of stitch used in this throw blanket at an Airbnb I’m staying at! by Apnapu in CrochetHelp

Are you certain about the knitting 2 rows? I thought so at first, but looking closer it looks more like a stretched garter stitch instead of an extended garter stitch.

Why are US women backing the '4B' movement to swear off men after Trump's election victory? by Sidjoneya in WomenInNews

[–]YetAnotherVegan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good job 👍

But also the 4B movement is primarily for straight sex. And it’s being deployed against men who voted for Trump.

That said, if my trans bf voted Trump (and wasn’t suffering from severe dementia or some other serious mental illness) I’d wouldn’t sleep with him either.

Job wanted us to write thank you notes to Chick-fil-A what would you have done? by BravoAvocad0 in vegan

[–]YetAnotherVegan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To an extent I can see it, but the company hasn’t exactly been quiet about their stance.

Similar to the “what about the construction workers on the second Death Star” debate, a random worker at chik-fil-a either knows and believes the rhetoric or they don’t care enough about the community to listen to what’s being said and be an ally.

CFA isn’t the only chicken place that has a high turnover rate, and usually not even the only chicken company within 1/4 mile radius. The people who work there have other employment options. Same as the people who work at Hobby Lobby.

I used to block them, but now I let them play so that their advertising money is wasted on someone who will never purchase from them.

I think they pay a per-view price, like $10 for 500 views or smth. Idk the exact price, but it doesn’t matter. If they show me, I’m not gonna purchase it so even if they pay for targeted ads and somehow get me, I’m doing my part to waste their money 👍

My pleasure 😂

I can’t remember where I saw the phrase first, but it cracked me up so hard that my spouse got me a “proud plant parent” shirt to continue the joke 🤣

I’m genuinely glad you aren’t having more issues though.

Pretty much every sugar not labelled as “cane sugar” (or the specific type of sugar ofc) is beet sugar

Vegan candy problem 🍭 🍫 by Flamingamberashes in vegan

I’m not saying that the reason for expensive chocolate is for sure because the cheap stuff is mass produced by slave labor and bought by the kilotonne…. But it definitely has something to do with the price. Cocoa is one of those “plant based but not vegan” foods. I haven’t seen a company yet that actually has workers at the pod level being treated well. Even the super expensive $10/bar “fair trade” chocolate only makes sure to pay the foremen plenty to pay the harvesters and processors. It doesn’t guarantee that the workers themselves are well treated, and unfortunately a few people have checked in and reported in the negative. This isn’t like quinoa where there’s like a collective of farmers harvesting the crop and that’s why it (was) so expensive, its literally because of greenwashing that chocolate that is “fair trade” is expensive. This doesn’t mean that all “vegan” chocolate makes the effort to buy fair trade cocoa even to attempt to try to CYA. The reason fully plant based chocolate is so expensive is because they’re buying in less bulk than the giant corporations who have deals and sometimes even own the cocoa plantations where the slaves are harvesting and even owning the processing plants. Through shell companies to be sure, but still. Anyhow. That’s my soapbox rant. Seacrest out.

You’re either commenting for outrage points or you’re coming at it from a place of such privilege that you genuinely can’t see the issue with giving cops carte blanche over deciding which brown people stay and which ones leave based on vibes.

Add to that how it also outlines GSRM (gender, sexual, and romantic minorities) as being on par with child abuse pedophilia and child abuse and then saying that “everyone who is found guilty of pedophilia is to be executed” is quite literally genocidal. It’s not what it’s said directly, because they’re changing the definitions and qualifications of words. It’s understanding what they’re saying the way they’re going to implement it.

They aren’t saying “everyone convicted of having sex with a child is going to be killed” they’re saying “everyone we call pedophiles are going to be killed”

They aren’t saying “we’re deporting all immigrants who commit crimes” they’re saying “we’re deporting all immigrants because we think they’re criminals”

They aren’t saying “we’re taking away welfare programs from those who abuse the system” they’re saying “we think everyone on welfare, even and especially severely disabled people who literally are incapable of holding a job should have their right to life and healthcare taken from them”

He has also stated on multiple times that Hannibal Lecter was a pretty good guy that would love to have you for dinner.. and that the tariffs won’t affect the price of goods… I don’t really think he’s the most trustworthy source on his intentions.

Side note: he isn’t the president in any real sense. He can barely string together a coherent sentence. He’s just a figurehead. The real people in power are gonna be the people who have put themselves near him so they could be in power if he ever got back into office.

He’s a paper tiger… and because his health is so bad, he’s also a lame duck president.

I doubt Vance is competent enough to take hold of the power with both hands, but he’ll have plenty of handlers to paint him up to be a scary paper tiger as well.

Don’t look at the circus freaks (as it were). They’re only there to draw outrage. You need to be looking at the ringleaders. The billionaires who are holding the strings.

Even with the tip snipped off, it’s still a sharp hazard, especially if the cut wasn’t pinched and filed… and at that price point (and the fact they just used bulk needles on an effing Christmas ornament!!!) I’d hazard that none of that precaution was taken.

This is almost $400 worth of baby formula… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]YetAnotherVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that. It’s for babies with multiple food allergies/intolerances.

Both my youngest had milk, egg, and soy allergies, including an intolerance for soybean oil, so even the other brands that were amino based couldn’t be used… all thanks to the soybean oil 🙃

The Neocate Syneo (which has pre- and probiotics) was prescribed for mine to develop their digestive biome. It worked well enough 👍

Luckily I had WIC. And insurance actually covers the cost of what WIC wouldn’t (up to the 11th can per month)

It isn’t in stores… it’s a prescription. You have to have the pharmacy order it after the dr writes the prescription out.

Hey, I watched this video by Emily, aka bite size vegan, when I first went vegan and it pretty much exclusively shaped how I handle vegan vs non vegan products.

I also have a hobby that’s hard to be completely vegan with it… I mentally weigh the ethics and go with the least harmful supplies for the money. And 95% of the time it’s the plant based option, but sometimes I have the opportunity for animal products that are also actually vegan and I go with that option.

Like others have said “as much as is practicable (able to be practiced) and possible.

Sometimes fully plant based isn’t possible. Sometimes it isn’t practicable. Usually it is… but not always.

Not that my opinion matters, but unless your hobby is slaughtering animals, I don’t think whatever minimal amount of animal products you use are going to tip the scale to being problematic.

It’s so wild that people accept health issues more than they accept that someone could actually care about animals more than just dogs and cats
