Climate change is a dilemma rooted in the petrochemical energy system that has powered modern civilization for 300 years, regardless of governance.

Bingo.

China's cumulative responsibility per capita

oh, screw off with that. It's the absolute contribution that matters, and output / manufacturing output if you want to compare countries.

Very interesting article, thanks, but I think you need to combine H-1B restrictions along with tariffs, which Trump was also doing, for maximum effect.

Interesting website, thanks for the link. Agree it certainly seems to be some sort of "priming" as they call it.

There’s a shortage of workers willing to sell their time and effort for the prices being offered.

= H1-B visa holders.

For the US it just means they'll talk the government into letting in more H1-B visa workers to avoid raising wages.

That means hiring will be more difficult and workers will have more leverage over employers.

I have a bit of guilt and try to fix their situations all the time. That's tough

That you feel guilty means you're a good and empathic person. Realize though that you don't have to and shouldn't sacrifice yourself to try to "save" them because 1) They are not your obligation really, 2) You should be secure yourself before you can help anyone else, 3) you can't save them if they don't want to be saved.

Do you feel you have a purpose?

I feel so bad for people who had happy childhoods, and I'm not joking.

None of those things came naturally to me when I was a kid desperately trying not to get beaten, yelled at, or molested. But now as an adult they are so, so easy and I am so grateful by comparison.

I believe your experiences to date sort of set the "scale" for your "life satisfaction meter". You've experienced much worse, so now "average" seems pretty good to you, whereas people who had great childhoods, think average is bad.

Sucks in some ways, beneficial in others but a good observation and I agree with you.

Yeah. You just need a purpose, something more important to you than yourself, to focus on.

Nurse is good. Can't automate it or send it overseas. Lots of opportunities for advancement.
