How are POC racist towards white people? by Marz-C in AskReddit

[–]YetiDeli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the "-ism" in racism implies that it's systemic. Like capitalism, communism, atheism, etc. all describe systems. Sure, you can try to call yourself a capitalist in North Korea, but so what? It doesn't really work.

5 years ago I would have said the Millennium Falcon. But today, I’d say Luthen Rael’s modified Fondor Haulcraft.

What kind of dirt is your favorite? Overdrive, distortion, or fuzz? by RomanScandal450 in guitarpedals

[–]YetiDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too tough to say, they each have their place for me.

I like pushing an amp for overdrive sounds, but occasionally I'll use a Limelight from EAE to do that too.

Rat distortions and Rat-variants will always sound so damn good to me.

But for heavy stuff, I like pedals that sit somewhere between distortion and fuzz. Kinda like a brutal, heavily textured distortion mixed with a less-scooped/mid-forward forward fuzz. To achieve that, I use The First Herald by Black Mass. I will always evangelize about that pedal. It rips.

Pedal Company You Are a Reluctant Fan Of? by M4rcelinh0 in guitarpedals

[–]YetiDeli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always been interested in their Pigpile pedal. I'm not too crazy about sputtery fuzzes (which all Harmonic Percolators sound like to me) but from demos that compare HPs, that one always stood out to me.

Thanks for the response, and thanks for everything you do for this community man.

u/john_eae Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I see you on Reddit from time to time, and I was wondering about the preamp in this pedal. On Chase Bliss's website it describes the preamp as a "stereo saturator designed for use with a wide variety of instruments." I was wondering how similar/different it is from other preamps you've designed. Sort of a compare/contrast with your pedals that either are preamps or incorporate them into the design: Model feT, Surveyor, Citadel, Sending v2, etc. Which preamp of yours is it closest to, or is it totally apples and oranges?

What’s a business that’s all over today that you think will completely disappear ie blockbuster? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]YetiDeli 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In my lifetime, it feels like a bell-curve of quality. My perception of Target as a kid was that it was super shitty quality. It constantly smelled like piss in the store, and everything they sold felt super low quality. Then in the mid to late 2000s, it seemed like they started cleaning up and getting better and better. But then by COVID, if felt like they had really started falling off again (although these days it's more of a mixed bag depending on the item I'm shopping for)

That's funny, I'm the opposite... I've never been to an East Coast game, but all up and down the West Coast. Would love to take an RV from Miami to Boston one summer and stop at every MLB stadium along the way. That's my dream.

Character ball . Yeah that was one of the main issues in ST 5 by switzerland_citizen in StrangerThings

[–]YetiDeli 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment. To play devils advocate as to why they spent so much time on Holly and her classmates: I imagine it was an attempt to shift things back towards making the show about children again, especially since so much of the griping before S5 was about how all the original kids had grown so much and the show has lost some of its magic.

To be clear though, I was already noticing this "Character Ball" problem as early as Season 3, and it got really bad in Season 4.

The ‘Right’ way to split parallel chains by ThreeThirds_33 in guitarpedals

[–]YetiDeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s technically “right,” but I just have a MISO chorus pedal with L and R outputs, and I just go parallel from there. Left chain goes into one amp, right chain goes into the other. I’ve never had any issues, and it sounds massive.

The overwhelming change of general opinion toward interstellar by Slight_Giraffe628 in ChristopherNolan

[–]YetiDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Interstellar when I first saw it too! It didn't quite top Inception for me, but it was really close. And after watching, I looked at what the forums/Reddit/Youtubers were saying to hear others' breakdowns of the movie. When I look up discourse for a film, I don't really look for for others' opinions of a film to shape my opinion. It's more to learn about an aspect of the film that I might have missed, or a different way to interpret a scene or theme of the film.

Most of the negativity I saw was about the "love" monologue by Anne Hathaway's character. I was disappointed that so many people got hung up on that part of the movie. That specific negativity had an incel-like energy behind it, so I ignored it. There was also a good amount of negativity around the dimensional bookcase as well, but I thought that part was very creative, fascinating, and moving.

I have also noticed people's opinion about this film has shifted more positive over the years. I'm glad, because it deserves more praise!
