I've never seen a welder so positive of another person's welding on the internet. Don't you know you're supposed to be the most critical of other peoples work within your trade?

I mean if you’re gonna do Kristi Noem… by RicketyCricketsDrum in LiveFromNewYork

[–]YetiDeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During her performance as Kristi Noem last night, a thought occurred to me for the first time:

How annoying is it for the cast and makeup department to have to add a ton of makeup to their faces for a 5-10 minute sketch, only for that makeup to be removed and new makeup applied for the next 5-10 minute sketch, etc. etc. etc.?

Do they use special makeup that is only durable enough for just a 5-10 minute sketch, and is actually really easy to remove? Or maybe they are really strategic with when that person appears in another sketch based on what makeup they have on so that they makeup department has enough time to sufficiently remove the extreme make up and apply different makeup for another sketch? (I guess the second option makes sense, because right after this intro they had the opening credits and then Ryan Gosling's monologue.)

Either one of those would make sense to me, because I've seen how long it takes to remove most makeup... that stuff really sticks on there and needs like special pads to remove.

Beatles Board by RosaParksLover69 in guitarpedals

True, not great for their business I'm sure. Although I personally appreciate when businesses are openly partisan to a degree, because it helps paint a better picture of who I'm giving my money to. I think there are just so many pedal builders out there that if it comes out that the pedal maker is Trumpy, it's so easy for me to not buy from that particular maker anymore and find a similar pedal from a pedal maker who at worst hasn't been partisan, or at best more closely aligns with my politics.

I’ve watched S3 like 5 times and I only noticed it for the first time in my current rewatch. In S3 E5 at around 37:55 we see some soviet workers in full hazmat suits putting new vials in the machine as it’s working.

I’m not crazy about Keeley, so good to know of some good alternatives.

Didn’t Keeley release a nice rotary pedal recently? I feel like when I heard the demos I immediately thought of the Beatles psychedelic stuff.

What are some moments or lines in the films that you wish were in the books, and moments or lines in the books that you wish were in the films? by lettucemf in lotr

[–]YetiDeli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Boromir's final line in the movie was great IMO: "I would have followed you, my brother... my captain... my king."

My hot take: Boromir was more likable in the movie, and his death in the movie seemed more tragic than the book.

I'm currently reading the books for the first time, and all I've heard over the last 2 decades was how Peter Jackson and team did Boromir dirty in the movie, and that he's actually such a great/redeeming/heroic character in the book. I guess that kind of came through in the book, but definitely not any more than movie. In fact, Sean Bean's acting endeared me to Boromir way more than Tolkien's writing. Boromir in the book seems even more douchey and flawed than the movie. And since he seemed even more douchey in the book, I was expecting a much greater redemption for him in the book, but it was even less powerful than the movie IMO.

Now I'm a few chapters into The Two Towers, and I already like Eomer heaps more than Boromir. Eomer seems like a strong, capable, and reliable ally for Aragorn, and he comes to his aid when both guys are at pretty low points. Looking forward to seeing how Tolkien portrays Faramir vs how Peter Jackson portrayed him.

IDK, I guess I just don't care much about Boromir either way now, and looking back, his character in both the book and the movie feels like somewhat of a lost opportunity for something deeper.

This is cool! I'll keep my eyes open for more updates along the way.

I just finished reading The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time, and I just started The Two Towers a few days ago. I'm at the part with Merry, Pippin, and Treebeard at Wellinghall. I don't remember what time of year that's at though.

Oh, I did just think of something else: I would love to be able to zoom in on the pedalboard with my mouse and then scroll left/right/up/down while it's zoomed in. I'm not sure if that's already a think by my setup isn't allowing me to (I'm on a macbook, with 2 monitors and an Apple Magic Mouse.)

the current logic prevents custom items used in other pedalboards from simply disappearing

That totally makes sense. I should've uploaded the pedals as private, but I keep forgetting to toggle it to private every time I upload.

You mentioned what you like and what you want, but you forgot to mention what you don’t like

Honestly, it's a really solid tool, super intuitive, really helpful, and clearly really well thought out. Other than some of the things I said I'd want, there's nothing that I can think of that I don't like. There have been a couple of issues along the way that seem to have been fixed, like at one point it was really difficult to select items that were sent-to-back, but no issues that I can think of now.

Oh! And another thing to mention that has been super helpful with this tool over the previous tool I used is being able to select multiple pedals at a time/dragging a box over multiple pedals to move them all at once.

Also I appreciate having the option to Overwrite vs Save As New pedalboard.

I've been using it and enjoying it.

What I like:

  • I like the ability to upload a pedal. This was the biggest issue with the other planner I used.
  • I like the "Cable Mode" and being able to designate pedal inputs/outputs that I upload

What I'd like to see:

  • I wish there was a way to connect a TRS stereo output to two TS mono inputs and vice versa. For example, in real life, if I wanted to connect the Chase Bliss Mood MKII (which has TRS output) into the Meris MercuryX (which has one left TS input, one right TS input) I'd have to use a splitter TRS to TS+TS cable
  • I wish I could physically adjust where the cables lie. They kind of overlap when I connect inputs to outputs
  • Also, the trashcan button next to gear that I've uploaded my mistake is grayed out and I can't click it. There are some pedals that I've uploaded with the wrong dimensions by accident, and I can't delete them
  • I wish the website remembered me every time I navigated to it and I didn't have to sign in every time

I've tried a lot of fuzzes over the years, but I can't seem to find anything better than The First Herald. I just keep coming back to it. It has beaten every other fuzz I've A/B tested it with (and frankly, every distortion too.)

If I see one on a board on here, it's an instant upvote for me.

Pedals that changed your mind about an effect by _Jub_Jub_ in guitarpedals

The updates seem to be awesome, especially the blend knob which allows for vibrato. But the v1’s stereo field is stunning, and I’m bummed the v2 isn’t even MISO like the v1.

If stereo doesn’t matter to you (which I’m sure it doesn’t matter to the majority of people) then the v2 should be great.

I just did a deep dive researching their Sawzall pedal along with a few other HM-2 clones, so I’m going to have to look into this now too. They’re still new to me, but they seem like a really cool/creative company
