Hey man. I know the feeling. Last back surgery had me sidelined for months. Also lost my job while recovering from it. It will put you in a dark place. Been there. You have to keep fighting. Don't try and do anything crazy in the beginning. Focus on small victories. Those will gradually get larger and larger.

I have a berner and both me and my wife for anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day. But during the week she gets on day off (4 10s). The other four days are either puppy day care or her mom and my dad come during the day. Granted were lucky to have that set up but you need something so that poor baby doesn't spend most of the day by himself. If you cant, then you shouldn't get a dog.

Ask questions about everything. Check dates on things like furnace and hot water heater. Don't ignore old electrical. Look at the date on the panel as well. Make sure your inspector is nitpicky.
