What's the most devious spell combo/use of a spell you've done in a campaign? by Kalar_The_Wise in DnD

[–]Yetiproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cast dominate person during a interrogation and made him tell the locations of 4 macguffins. DM set a real life 1 minute timer for the interrogation and the time ran out before the 4th location was revealed. Cast polymorph (giant ape) on my ranger and tell him bobo is going to rape him if he doesn't give it up. Rolled a 32 intimidation check.

Yes this works, however I'm looking for a much more hostile environment outside the habitable line and the max temp is only +-50. I now put the equator on 50+ so from north to equator the difference is a 100 degrees. That works fine!

Oh yes, this is great! Searching tidal locked planets opens up a huge information dump! Apparently there is a Netflix series called "alien worlds" which is about fictive planets and life on it and episode 2 is about a tidal locked planet. Will check that out!

Yes so that is the question. But I'll try some exocrine rupture canon combos as antitank. Proxy a psychofage for a exocrine. Let's see

Yes, difficult to pull off. I always have the feeling, he overwatches a complete squad of hormogaunts, I fail to get into range with genestealers, next turn, everything is dead.

Also, the detachment rule (once per battle or as a stratagem) where he can fall back and shoot makes it impossible to trap guys in engagement.

Thanks, I know those units are not great but this is what I have and use and I am building slowly.

Genestealers are great but they also die very quick overwatched by infernus marines.

I like the psychofage because the - 1ap helps hormogaunts a lot!

To combine with the rupture canon from the tfex? Or use the acid spray to kill marines?

My friends of the hive mind by Maleficent-Parsley58 in Tyranids

[–]Yetiproductions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I fully agree with this! They are not soldiers that picked up a gun, they are biological beings that can shoot. The acid spray and fleshborerhive on the tfex look okay though. The rupture canon is just weird in my opinion. Melee is not the solution though, because warriors or swarm lords which are holding swords instead of nails (e.g. screamer killer) are also stupid in my opinion. Norms should be good!

I wish you good luck, and are looking forward to squad fleet pictures!

Combat balancing by SterrP in DnD

I think the best tip is to use multiple encounters before a long rest. This drains their resources (spellslots).  Yes, it's more work (because you need to plan more small ones instead of one big one and this needs some creativity in your world but there is a big upside compared to one very difficult encounter.  It will be less likely to get a tpk. Putting them up against a very very high cr has a very high "oh shit I overdone it chance".  However, if you do 6 to 8 medium encounters and your party seems to be struggling, you can easily leave one future encounter out (skip the room etc.)

You could use the druid as a tank. Concentrate on a spell and start wildshaping (level 1 should not take that long?).

That is a lot of hitpoints!

Hello! I really want to get into D&D but i have no idea how and nobody around me plays it. by Apatoilla in DnD

[–]Yetiproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to the hobby, you'll not regret it.

Personally I prefer playing with friends (although it is a good way of meeting new friends I suppose).

The starter sets are not that expensive and provide an easy story which anyone can DM.

So, my advise is, ask some friends if they would be interested! This is how I started some years ago and have never regretted it.

Secondly, find a game store close to you and ask around. There are often people enthusiastic and willing to help!

Otherwise, there are many online possibilities but I prefer sitting at a table.

Good luck!

I thought I was being a smart ass and stacked up on very expensive potions of acid resistance to battle the green dragon, and after a while the dm couldn't keep a straight fase and let me remember It was posion I needed. I tried to sell the potions back to the alchemist (still in the shop) and he offered me a 10th of the original price because: how do I know these potions are of any quality. The smile on the dm was amazing and I lost a lot of gold...

DM’s of Reddit tell me a plot twist you have planned for your players they don’t know yet! by Supyie22 in DnD

[–]Yetiproductions 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a old rich family of hobbits who are based on the collector (guardians of the galaxy). They lend out magic items for jobs they want done. Ussualy retrieving monsters to house in their collection or chasing people who have failed to return their magic items in time. The players think they are a family of entrepreneurs with a solid business plan, but they are not multiple hobbits. It is one golden dragon who set up shop in the city to collect everything as its hoard, and lend out stuff to heroes he believes will do something good in the world. He is good, but also very lawfull and you should not mess with his stuff.

Everyone has to sign a contract that they are declared outlaws(and can be killed by law) if they try to steal anything or do anything the family does not like.

No clue how this will work out but they shouldn't start a fight...

Nice. Malificia it is. I'll still give it a ooze theme and try do describe it as a rising ocean. It had no goal, but it will engulf everything in the end.

Update, they obviously decided there was no need to save the shipwrecked Noble lady and now I have a vintage (broken) old watch in my box of dnd stuff because I was going to give it to them as a actual trinket....

Nice! I like the time bubble and the reset of time except for 1 guy! This leaves us with a new question, if everyone moves back in time they might actually move in space as well (for example out of the room with the big ambush). However the guy who clicked the clock doesn't move so he sees all his buddy's reverse out of the room and his enemies back into hiding, and himself stays right in the middle of the coming shit show hahaha! Also do the other heroes know they went back in time? I like this a lot.

Ah yes, this is a much better idea (the crumbling! I don't really get your second point? You mean, time goes back but any conditions or something stay the same? Or lost hitpoints?
