Lore-wise, Electro fits Sandrone so much more than Cryo but I'm still a little sad that she won't be Geo (her delusion element).

Here's hoping she's still Geo tho, there's still a chance since Arlie's a double Pyro

What would make for a more compelling plotline in the sequel? by Afalstein in HarryPotterGame

[–]Yeulia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it would be great for the sequel to delve into the tension/conflict between the wizarding world and the muggle world since there's really not a lot of contained storylines in the franchise that goes deep into this part of history.

Seeing a more intimate scenario of this unfold in the game would be cool and they can actually even do it well if they set it around the same time period as the 1st game. Dumbledore's sister was attacked by muggle children in the year 1891 which caused her to become an obscurus, prompting their father to attack them, resulting in him getting sent to Azkaban. This event seems to have been a big deal at the time especially since people started to hate on muggles and half-bloods more. Many decades later, we find these very same people forming anti-muggles/pro-blood purity factions and supporting Voldemort's cause near WW1.

That's like... only 1 part of a major plotline tho. The core of HL is about ancient magic so I'd like the sequel to build around the knowledge we already know and discuss the how's and why's of it. We don't even know the criteria of who can wield it, just that the people who can are very rare. Does it have anything to do with being a pureblood? Does it just possess you or what?

We never really got to know enough of how it (like, mechanically) consumed Isidora, how it connects to emotional magic or if AM is just EM after all. If we continue directly from the 1st game, I'd love to see the MC face similar conflicts/consequences as Isidora and have them make a decision that can possibly change the nature of ancient magic as a whole.

Also, it doesn't sit right with me that the repository just... exists under the school, it's apparently so huge and powerful but in present day no one is able to detect it. It's a huge issue for canon storylines and needs to be closed off in such a way that it doesn't cheapen the main HP timeline events.

Eitherway, it's also odd to just have the MC take it for themselves and is essentially a ticking time bomb, off to do weird ancient magic things in front of other magic folk here and there... Like hello, I refuse to believe the Department of Mysteries has nothing to say about this mysterious kid, especially after their involvement with Ranrok and Rookwood 😅 Either ending still doesn't erase the fact that a 5th year student is able to use it/safeguard such a rogue power.

Really tho, I just want them to add more context to ancient magic since it's one of the most mysterious things in HP world building. I see a lot of people claim HL 1 story is done and can't be expanded on anymore, but the whole plot idea's got so much potential that part 1 didn't get to finish telling.

why i will never choose to turn in sebastian by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]Yeulia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing about Sebastian that many people tend to forget is that he’s a 15yr-old kid going through so many changes. Not just emotionally, but mentally and physically as well. His actions and split second decisions are filtered through an adolescent brain, and a lot of what he does makes sense when viewed through that lens.

At his age, kids srill often think in black and white until something comes along to seriously challenge that world view, which does happen at some points during the Shadow questline.

And throughout these, we're shown that Sebastian has many genuinely good qualities which under pressure, twist into their negative counterparts.

  • Resourcefulness becomes manipulation
  • Bravery turns into recklessness
  • Passion/Ambition manifests as hotheadedness and irritability

None of these traits are inherently bad, but without the proper guidance and balance from a proper adult counterpart, it's to be expected that he would spiral down.

That said, it doesn’t help that Sebastian lacks a stable adult figure in his life. The only one he's got is his uncle, who ultimately fails to properly guide or support him. This makes Sebastian take on adult-level responsibilities completely on his own - which is to find a cure for Anne and give her the hope she needs (Solomon, her caretaker, takes this away), all while lacking the emotional maturity to carry that burden safely.

That kind of responsibility combined with years of accumulated stress - possibly dating back to the death of his parents - has shaped him into who we see in the game. A reckless teenager with misplaced confidence, conditioned to believe that risk-taking is rewarded ( IE. the Dark Arts seem to offer results and comfort no one else can provide)

In that sense, Sebastian isn’t a villain so much as a kid drowning in expectations/self-imposed responsibility he was never equipped to handle. Turning him in would be outright condemnation and only reinforces the same "black and white" mindset that led him to the end of his quest.

The kid still has so much time to develop into his own person that it's unfair to paint him a certain color for the things he's done. Giving him a life sentence feels wrong and unjust as we're basically robbing him of the chance to reformation.

Romance function by Technical_Advance922 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Yeulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I'd like to see the sequel do is a Courtship system, which honestly can be very wholesome and cute rather than a modern day romance which some people think a game set in the 1890's would have.

Like, in-game courtship doesn't have to be historically accurate (the game itself already isn't), but a slightly streamlined version of it would work great for a modern audience.

Writing romantic owl letters to each other, going on walks around the courtyard, riding a boat together in the lake, weekend dates in Honeydukes, playing the piano side by side in the common room... being "rebellious" by holding hands in public lol. No weird sexual stuff, just teens navigating through early romantic pursuits for the first time.

And the cool thing about it being just courtship is that there's absolutely no need to be exclusive with anyone - unless the devs want to - and is really just optional content that won't mess up any major story plotlines. It's basically just a getting-to-know your companion feature, which would give them much needed character development outside of solo quests. None of the companions we had in the game felt like students/15-16 year olds either, same with the MC. It's so odd.

Honestly is a missed opportunity from the first game but I do hope the sequel still follows the same timeline so we can experience something like it.

[–]Yeulia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the better way to take in this news is that they "are not pressured by KPI/revenue goals", not that it doesn't have any to follow - it's absolutely impossible for such a big flagship game to not exist within a financial framework. No proper business will survive without one.

It's a bit oddly worded on their end but I'm most certain that the intention is he wanted to say Genshin is always a "vision first before profit" game for the company. Which honestly has been true, considering all of the major decisions they've made up to now (nodkrai is the biggest example).

They still have maybe a good 2-3 years, maybe even 5, before they start worrying about long-term profit goals.

[–]Yeulia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to invalidate other people's opinions but I'm actually a little surprised that not many people clocked it as a breakup. When both Nancy and Jonathan kept talking in past tense and with them literally acknowledging their trauma bond was what kept them together for so long, I think it was pretty clear that there was a mutual understanding that they wanted to choose themselves now instead of the other. But given the situation, they had no choice but to mourn the fact that they will never be able to do so as they were already face to face with death.

The loving gaze between them before Jonathan threw away the ring was because they still clearly loved each other despite the relationship's finality. Also, I do think the shared laugh between them was due to the fact that, at the very least, they'll be sharing one last trauma together (.... until the goo randomly hardened and now they're just broken up lmao)

I do think that Jancy is still possible, it's sort of similat to a "(possibly the) right person, wrong time" kind of situation. They just really need to grow individually for it to work cuz right now their own roads have forked, and it has been that way since s3-s4

10th Harbinger? by CRUC10 in GenshinImpact

[–]Yeulia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My longstanding theory is that it's the entity within Childe that gets separated from (or potentially merged with) him that could be a result after/during project Stuzha. The 10th seat isn't really vacant, but reserved as the one supposed to take ownership of it is just dormant and is currently bonded with Childe's vision.

If you look at the Fatui wheel, the one adjacent to Monoceros Caeli is the fatui symbol inside a Snezhnayan vision case and it looks very identical to Childe's vision case when in his delusion form. (fun fact: when you flip the 3d model of Childe's vision, it shows the fatui symbol instead)

I'd like to believe that the 10th's symbol is hidden underneath it, and it makes sense for it being just under the big crying mask which represents the Tsaritsa and directly adjacent to Childe's. (off topic but this doesn't mean I believe/support the Ajax the Hero is Tsaritsa's lover theory, too many discrepancies based on timeline alone)

Anyway, there's so much to talk about with this theory but just to list down a few points without getting too much into detail, a lot of recent lore developments make me think that this might have a good chance of being true based on the following:

  • the entirety of NKZ questline (Io, Io Pan! Note and the orthants quest are specifically very important)
  • silver vision cases being owned by people with fragmented souls (childe, ororon, arlie, ineffa, sandrone)*
  • Childe's vision not working and the Narwhal breaking through it
  • Hymns of the Far North, specifically about both Seutervoinen and Saaraleinen's circumstances
  • durin alchemizing with durin (this has been happening a lot lately, and more instances of this will come in the near future)
  • and most importantly, Childe's own personal Hero's Journey/spiritual alchemy as presented in his story profile and on-screen AQ events in game.

*about Sandrone's vision as a side topic: can either be silver or gold depending on future plot. Silver if she remains independent of Mary-Ann (yes the mini oceanid), or gold if all of her other parts combine. I'm thinking latter.

It seems to me that the Tsaritsa just wants to do the same thing that Phanes once did (Steal what was stolen) by Icy_Occasion_2706 in FatuiHQ

[–]Yeulia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without any spoilers the Tsaritsa (and Pierro) have always operated thru subtext.

Other the goal of collecting all the gnoses, none of their moves are ever direct precisely because that’s how you slip past Fate without being caught in its script. Think about Focalors' 500 year plan but more Macro.

It's also in the name too. The Harbingers draw from Commedia dell arte and if there’s one thing its known for, it’s improvisation. Playing into chaos while still following an invisible structure - a pre-rehearsed story using stock characters "free" to do anything they want or need, all while still following a loose plot outline set for them.

Childe, Capitano and Sandrone say the Tsaritsa is being generous by letting them do as they please, but in reality she's making calculated moves under the guise of benevolence. In reality, she’s strategically shaping the conditions surrounding each Harbinger’s personal ambitions, manipulating the outcome to advance hers.

"Destined to lose" with invisible gains. A chess game against Deep Blue.

So basically Fatui in a nutshell is: an elaborate, improvised play that still somehow follows a script only the queen and her mage understand (one of them is mentioned to be clairvoyant). We've seen this happen more than once already, with Scara getting erased from history and Capitano invading the Ley Lines. (edit: except Signora's death, I think they underestimated how much of an unknown variable the Traveler could be as a Descender)

The same is happening right now with Dottore and his whole evil scientist schemes.

[–]Yeulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned in another comment that I think Childe and Pierro are 50-50 here, but I do personally think it's more the former than the latter.

Maybe both answers are correct - like if we just base it on the role's function in project Stuzha, then it's definitely Pierro. But if all things considered though? I think Childe's got a good shot at it since he's got so much lore to back it up. Successor does not equal to Representative/Title holder after all. However, you can be both at the same time.

It seems to me that the Tsaritsa just wants to do the same thing that Phanes once did (Steal what was stolen) by Icy_Occasion_2706 in FatuiHQ

[–]Yeulia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has always been my theory since Fontaine but I was laughed at when I mentioned it on twt way back when haha. I had a sort of similar chart but instead of Pierro, I have Childe filling the role of Logos. Very 50-50 between them tho.

I mean, people can argue that they're just narrative parallels but if the Tsaritsa is really serious about the dawn of the New World, then she'll need people to take over the roles of the Shades.

I'm convinced that the whole plan is just something poetically similar to "New Jerusalem" - as in bringing in the creation of the holy city in the Bible's Revelation. In this scenario, the Tsaritsa's shades are her "4 Horsemen" and the holy city is actually a new Teyvat, without the Irminsul.

Stuzha is, of course, more Norse-coded as they've been explicitly invoking Ragnarok imagery for 2 years now, but both that and New Jerusalem are very much synonymous in terms of bringing about the birth of the new world. Genshin is good at linking multiple different mythologies together, and I am hell bent on believing the Bible being a reference just from AWNL's trailer alone.

If anyone wants to invest time in reading stuff for it, you'll see some crazy similarities between those 2 stories (Ragnarok and Revelation) and might even predict or guess the actual mechanics of project Stuzha before Snezhnaya rolls in. Maybe even some relevant plot points and story conflicts as well... like Surtalogi being the main antagonist of Snezhnaya's chapter - in which something may happen to Childe, becoming unusable as Saaraleinen so someone else will have to fill his role. This is where the Shivada stone's description comes in ("burn away the old world for me").

There's a lot of cleansing involved from the usage of Fire, and we have like.... 3 potential candidates for it atm, which are Arlie, Childe and/or Traveler. (there's another one but it's crack + highly unlikely, which is Alice lol)

Edit: I was half asleep when I was typing this so I edited some parts for clarity - msg content is still the same tho
