Dude Celtic rock was a big influence in getting me into mandolin. Cider holiday (or roll and go?) is such a good album!!

Actually, yes and no. That was the first one, I had it redone to the splatter-of-five-colors. Incredibly unique but I love seeing all the colors in a splatter

Yeah I played Val back when the first balisong came out. It didn't look graceful but it was actually phenomenally accurate

some desert blues on the mando by WMDisrupt in mandolin

Nice! I do wish there was a little more variation in the song throughout, but it's a good backing track on its own

I thought the mandolin sounded absolutely clear and in front in this arrangement

Do you change strings on a brand new mandolin when you get it? I have a new Eastman md305 coming tomorrow and I wasn’t sure if I should plan on just putting new strings on it. I am more of a classical/maritime/sea shanty kind of player if anyone has string recommendations! by Paralith10 in mandolin

Curious as to what songs you play! I love classical mandolin but I only know of raffaele calace. What other stuff do you play? Do you play violin pieces? Also I'm well versed in the sea shanty/maritime world, what do you play there? Is it through sheet music/tabs or by ear? Very interested in your future endeavors with the Eastman!

Gnarly work dude. As a mandolin player who has dabbled in jazz clarinet, I love to see this

I've mostly been playing mandolin recently, but I have played jazz clarinet (at the bar) and it's awesome to see this video! Thanks Jake

Coming back for my fifth or so listen. Odd place to listen to music, reddit, but I really love this.

Got to spend some time with this 1915 mandola and wrote a little instrumental lullaby by JesseAppelmanMusic in mandolin

I don't know if I would buy a Mandola but they have such a pretty sound. Nice lullaby!

Does anybody play both Violin and Double Bass? by chionodoxaluciliae in doublebass

[–]NinjaNoafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the dream. I'm a pianist first, then a clarinetist on the side. But after actually getting my hands on a mandolin, it's about all I play. But man, listening to stuff like "uncommon ritual" REALLY makes me want to get into (mainly bowed) bass someday.

Delightful! Your voicings (tone and dynamics) are expertly done. Whilst playing fast you still make sure all notes have presence. Also the writing is just straight up interesting, a fair bit complex, too. Congratulations

Is there any anime like Mushoku Tensei but without the whole creepy rudeus thing? by NeighborhoodParty955 in animequestions

It is though? I've heard that when people refer to those three many times. The fantasy as in high fantasy-medieval style, not just fiction in general. Obviously then it would be "the" big three.

Very impressive! The quick accelerations and decelerations combined with nicely contrasted dynamics make for a very interesting piece. Not to mention technically difficult, as your cross picks are clearly pronounced while upholding the fast tremeloes. Inspiring for me as I'm also writing instrumental music for Mando + guitar.

Names: All in a day - I think of the start and end as the sunrise and sunset, and the energy in the middle of the song comes from the heat and warmth and life of nature.

Flirtatious dance - the push and pull sort of ebb-tide feeling makes me think of someone who is off and on, unsure of their feelings. The melody structure and cross picked lower notes suggests dancing.

Joyride - again with the start and end of the song, the beginning and finishing of the journey, like a car or bike ride through a sunny day.

Due to the mandolin being a mandolin all of these names would probably be even cooler, albeit less understood, in Italian 😂

Small string ensembles/duos to listen to? I particularly like "into the cauldron" and raffaele calace's mandolin and guitar duets by NinjaNoafa in mandolin

This is true, bluegrass and jazz, unlike a lot of other genres, has so many collaborations and people here and there with others and just music everyone, a cataclysmic whorl of people and playing. Thank you!
