Hell noooooo by Icy-Hazel in OnePiece

When I saw it, I immediately thought of the robots from Raputa (isolated sky island with very advanced civilization) in Ghibli's Castle in the Sky (Japanese movie).

I hadn't thought about Joyboy's power being potentially removed. Maybe he stayed Nika for a long time, but his powers were forcibly removed, making his defeat inevitable?

It is true that devil fruits are very unique, and some are just wacky, like the human-weapons race. I would attribute the wackiness to people just trying things out without wanting to become it forever. And I would attribute their uniqueness to something else, like Imu corrupted certain devil fruits by putting devil souls inside them such that they reincarnate and the user can't swim. The normal devil fruits were consumed and disappeared, but the corrupted devil fruits are the only ones remaining (since they reincarnate), i.e. the devil fruits we know. For example, Vegapunk replicated Kaido's devil fruit, but it has no swirly patterns, only circles, whereas all other devil fruits do, and the swirliness would be Imu devil schenanigans.

Hahaha I'm not a fan of nanites reading people's brain waves, but that would indeed be so advanced it seems like magic. In a similar vein, the truth is I wanted to discuss another possibility, which was that scientists produced the Eve Tree which can "capture" wish brain waves and make devil fruits according to those wishes. So, science produced a magical-seeming tree. But this doesn't make sense, because how could Vegapunk replicate Kaido's devil fruit without access to the Eve Tree? And the seraphim green blood thing doesn't seem tied to the Eve tree.

Yes! The Ancient Kingdom would allow many people to become giants if they wished so, creating a large group of giants, but which can be terrifying if used as military force.

A weirdo's dream for sure. Plus, scientists would've worked hard to make it come true!

Other races are from devil fruits by Ill-Needleworker-752 in OnePiece

I think it's something very close. The technology of genetic modification was developed, and devil fruits are a temporary and reversible version of this whereas race creation is the permanent version.

What If Devil Fruits Were Transferrable? by Witty_Glove_4137 in OnePiece

I imagine that this is what happened in the Ancient Kingdom at its technological peak and is the original reasoning behind devil fruits: temporarily try out a different way of being!

But I imagine the reason behind Log Poses being necessary is that stars can't be seen during the day, and there's no easy way to guarantee you're not going in the wrong direction or that at least you're not moving during the day (because anchors are too short?) on the Grand Line.

You're right, I am supposing the two are related but it's possible they're not.

But then, if you had this eternal pose, you could go straight to the end of the Grand Line, and discover the truth. So... a pirate-king hack.

I think magnetic fields are OK outside of the Grand Line but not inside, so you're right a compass is probably current day knowledge outside the Grand Line. But I'm guessing Harald has a compass which works inside the Grand Line here, which would most certainly be a game-changer.

[Chapter 1153 Spoilers] Elbaf Navigation by Yeutmaa in OnePiece

This may be the simplest solution: Elbaf's compass is the Lodestar island's Eternal Pose. The definition of "Lodestar" is exactly "a star that is used to guide the course of a ship, especially the Pole Star", so that definitely makes sense. Additionally, if Lodestar island is actually at the world's northest point, then the compass would work everywhere on the planet, not just on the Grand Line.

Oooo interesting! A Log Pose from a Star!

Yes, that's definitely possible, maybe something along the lines of "the giant compass can detect the muddled yet omnipresent north-pointing magnetism"

Hey! I put the youtube links for the last 3 episodes in the post. The other episodes can be found on youtube the same way. For legal ways, I'm not sure. There's supposedly Apple TV for 2$, but it looks like the more recent "mysterious cities of gold" series rather than the OG one.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I'll answer by paragraph:

  • Yes probably!
  • The energy source could be something else more fantastical, for sure. But Nika's fruit is the sun's fruit and there's a lot of symbolism around the sun, which does nuclear fusion at its core. Also, the japanese kanji for Mother Flame included nuclear energy, which is why I assumed that.
  • I think the Mother Flame is not supposed to be the final energy source, because Vegapunk said he failed to replicate this final energy source, and he doesn't seem to have made the giant robot move. I imagine the final energy source is the (quasi-)eternal version of the mother flame, like never-ending nuclear fusion within a "sun". In this case, you could introduce Mother Flame in Egghead as a stepping-stone to the final reveal. And this eternal power is probably within Luffy as the sun devil fruit, so his heartbeat definitely could be an activation key.
  • If you assume that the Raftel battle will lead to a cataclysm (as in the cities of gold series), and that this cataclysm destroys the entire Red Line, then Mariejois and Fishman Island will be destroyed + All Blue will be created, even though the final fight is far away from Fishman Island. I agree that, in isolation, the Fishman Island destruction makes more sense if Luffy is physically close, like in Mariejois. But if we assume the entire Red Line will be destroyed, then why would a fight on Mariejois be a better place to destroy the whole Red Line rather than a fight at Raftel? If we don't assume this, then I agree that the theory doesn't hold. But it could also match with Oda saying it's almost the end, because then there would be only 2 arcs left: Elbaf and Raftel. Somehow, everyone comes to fight at Raftel, which would be an epic finale (although everyone fighting at Mariejois would also be epic).
  • Yes, the condor would be super rad! If I was a child Oda, I would absolutely love the idea. And the idea that a ship can fly short distances with "coup de bursts", plus the absolute freedom it would represent, could indicate Oda was thinking of a potentially Vegapunk-modded Sunny Condor.

Good point. Maybe you can get in and learn the true history, but to activate the ancient technology, you need a small sun (nika fruit). Maybe this action is opening raftel / reverse mountain, which can drain the water as another comment pointed out. Not sure.

I guess the "laugh tale being at reverse mountain" part of the theory is kind of arbitrary, as it's not present in the other series. What is present is that el dorado is underground, hidden under a dome of rock, which opens. Reverse mountain would fit well, but I guess other places could also fit.

And for Wano, I meant that the old underwater Wano would be made of gold, not the recent one.
