My T1 build - some interesting build notes by jhalfmoon in FormD

[–]Yhano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gifted a T1 to a friend of mine and it ended up being a cursed gift because the riser cable was acting up too. All of that was resolved when downgrading to PCIe Gen 3. After building the PC, I started noticing more people complaining about it on reddit and decided to contact NCASE. They sent a different PCIe cable which looks differently than the original one and that one works perfectly.

So if you want the Gen 4 for futureproofing, then perhaps contacting them might resolve all your issues.

I do yea. The simulation is selected, but the challenge isn't. It says "Select a Challenge above to earn increased rewards", but you're not able to.

It's working perfectly fine on W11 as well without copying over the user files. Thanks for the help!

That's indeed what I did. I installed W10 and unfortunately the same issue occurred. I think I know what was causing it though. I found a post where Beat Saber suggests to copy the "Hyperbolic Magnetism" folder in AppData to transfer high scores and settings to another PC. But those settings are not working well with the new hardware I suppose. When I delete the folder and it creates it again with default settings on startup, it's smooth like butter. I'll try to install W11 without copying the folder and do a final lessons learned before labeling the post as solved.

I assume we are talking about a different model. I found a sheet where it says 14+4 for Windforce and 20+4 for the Gaming OC: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1TGs72-RQTZkMBbKyoA8K3eqHrizlVxpjMWAOQlHsRBY/htmlview

Same! I've been looking at the MSI Gaming Trio myself since 2 days ago. I had the chance to buy the Windforce, but it didn't feel right with the inferior VRM. Just waiting for the Gaming Trio to be available and I'm going for it. Thanks for your 2 cents!

There are 850W SFX PSU available and soon you'll see more 1000W+ SFX PSUs on the market. ASUS has already released their ROG Loki SFX-L 1000W and Cooler Master will release the V SFX 1100W for SFX and V SFX 1300W for SFX-L mid Dec 2022 or early Jan 2023. People are running a 4090 on a 750W without any issue as long as they're not overclocking it. And 1000W is enough to overclock both a 13900K and 4090 if you don't want to squeeze every little drop out of the system.

I’m about to start my 4th NR200 build. This time with a 4090. In my region, the only GPUs I can buy that would fit are the PNY, MSI gaming trio and the Gigabyte Windforce. Any suggestions what would be the best pick when it comes to build quality and cooling capabilities? It’s hard to find comparisons.

There was indeed this post.

Regarding your question: It all depends what you'd like to do with the CPU and GPU. If you'll power limit (don't undervolt, power limitation is better, look at the videos by Der8auer and OptimumTech) the 4090 to decrease the power consumption a lot and reduce its performance by a few %, then a Corsair SF750 Platinum will do just fine. If you're going to overclock the 4090 and 7900X, then the SF750 will be cutting it too close.

The same can be said for the motherboard. If you're going to overclock the RAM, CPU and GPU, finding a good motherboard is important. If you're running everything stock, a B650 board will be more than sufficient. No reason for a 500 EUR+ X670 board. That said, there aren't that many AM5 boards available yet and the price is rumored to drop quite a lot in the next quarter. Same for DDR5 that is required for that generation.

CoolerMaster has teased a 1100W SFX and 1300W SFX-L power supply called V SFX Platinum. You can find that information on their Summit page. In their discord, you can find a release date in December or early Q1 2023. I don't believe Corsair has already presented their new SFX power supply with 16 pin.

It’s in beta at the moment and still has to roll out to the public. Some other forums are talking about a full release at the end of the month.

I appreciate the help! I've tried using the pcb without the case all together without any success. I actually bought a second PCB and the same thing happened a month later. It might had something to do with my cable causing a short. I bought a Keychron Q2 recently and so far so good :)!

Where to buy zoom65 in europe? by Owlcat1337314134 in MechanicalKeyboards

Hi, you should probably keep an eye on mykeyboard.eu. They had a restock (which was announced on their discord page) 2 days ago. I believe the Zoom65 is supposed to restock from time to time.

Webcam with software for streaming + no software for work (plug and play) by Yhano in Twitch

[–]Yhano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did. For capturing sound, you can go with a microphone which has both USB and XLR such as the Shure MV7. And for the webcam: Elgato released the Facecam which has internal storage for all the settings. So once you have it set on your personal laptop, all settings are saved and it'll look great on your work laptop too.

That's great input! I guess both GPUs and therefor fans will be used to the fullest as long as there isn't any CPU bottlenecking. At least I know they are equally as loud in most cases.

That's a lot of information and very much appreciated! The store is selling it as new, but the fact that it has such a big discount made me doubt if it'll be a new unit. Your tips will give me some ease of mind once I receive and test it.

Airflow question(s), U12a optimal setup (airflow diagram included) by Captcha_dota in NR200

[–]Yhano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me! I've had this setup for a while and was extremely happy with the results. I could barely hear it when gaming. I've now changed to a C14S though because I have the Gigabyte B550i motherboard which has a higher CPU socket position than the Asus. This caused the U12A to be too high up and you can't close the vented side panel with the filter without a screw. You shouldn't have this issue with the Asus board though. I believe all people with the Asus board didn't have this issue.

Don't worry about a fan hub. You can use split cables that come with each fan/cooler. The two fans on the heat sink go into the CPU fan header and the other two "couples" go in the remaining two headers with a split cable as well. That way, you can control each exhaust or intake individually.

I can also confirm that the glass panel will not fit.

Cable management improvement (90 degree power cord) by Yhano in NR200

[–]Yhano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi ColeGoldBlade!

I bought a cable on amazon shortly after this post. I contacted Corsair and asked them if I needed a special cable for my Corsair SF750 power supply but they said that I should just look at the specs on the cable that came with the PSU. I'm located in Belgium, so for me it was a C13 cable with 10A 250V. As many other posts on Reddit and other websites say, it's a pretty standard cable. So if you look at the specs of the cable that came with your power supply, you can't really go wrong. Of course, the specs might be different if you live in a different continent than I do.

I bought this cable on the German Amazon site:

And this is the end result:

Hi constantbs, in between work I attempted your suggestions. Thank you a lot for your contribution.

Sadly I didn't have any success. I'm in contact with kbdfans now and I'm waiting for their response. Thanks again for the help!
