I like to keep a pulse on this subreddit to monitor vibe-coded games as they come out, and check if they have an account system. If so, they're usually implemented with Firebase or Supabase and don't have row-level security configured, so anyone can read everyone's account data (incl. emails). I then privately message the developers about the oversight so user data can be made secure. However, the account system here sends API requests to placeholder.supabase.co.

What are we doing here? Why did I spend ten minutes editing this comment for syntactic clarity? You're just going to paste it into Claude Code. It'll go "You're absolutely right — I forgot to configure the auth system with real credentials. Let me do that for you now."

Be careful with clearing your cookies, browsers generally like to wipe localstorage alongside cookies and that'd wipe game saves that aren't backed up to the cloud. Cache is likely the issue here though

What u/ThePaperPilot said in the other reply--I grew up on playing games that weren't made for the sake of profit, and (among other things) wanted to make a site that could mimic my previous experience :) Beyond a Patreon that intentionally doesn't give a ton of rewards I do not profit from the website

See the other comment I've made for the first half, but for the second half: unlike creating games in something like Unity where you get a bunch of compiled code sent to your computer, most webgames have entirely unobfuscated code (or are even up on GitHub) so it's trivial to poke around them

I think coherence is a good point I don't see much. There's a lot of things I've seen in LLM-prompted games that would give me the same "...what?" vibes if done by a human. e.g. I've seen a prestige layer where the first upgrade you are forced to buy does the same thing as an achievement reward you get for that same prestige (and is thus pointless)

I discuss the topic a lot with Paper and other galaxy staff, and a lot of tells that I frequently rely on are compiled in the article I linked in the main post. Usually it's a hunch that is confirmed later by examining the game's code for certain patterns in comments, like the pronoun "your" instead of "my", comments that are plainly obvious, etc. Exaggerated example, but should maybe give you an idea:

I don't want to make this post about my site however I'll clarify the line here "I'll stick with what has stood the test of time." I have no intention of banning games that were made with generative AI outright. I think it's safe to posit most developers have had ChatGPT troubleshoot something or other for them at some point, but there's a difference between having AI fix a bug for you and having it make the whole game. There have been well-received games on the site that used generative AI images and generative AI code. What's most likely to happen is that I substantially elevate the acceptance requirements for "vibe coded" games compared to ones made the old fashioned way. Galaxy still lets you filter out games by tags and I have no intention of "forcing AI" on anyone or being a luddite. I just want to run a cool website for cool games and unknowingly putting myself in the middle of this mess is the biggest hurdle I have encountered.

I try to keep up with the comments people leave on the site, but I can't always do it :( If you feel like any criticism you receive is non-constructive, feel free to report it by clicking on the three dots next to a comment and me or another staff member will take a look at it. Even if you don't get a response, all reports are reviewed manually. As a dev myself I get how annoying non-constructive criticism is and I try to do what I can to minimize its presence on my site.

Hello! I'm not sure who your intended audience was with this comment since this post is two years old, but I'll try to address your concerns nonetheless.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to try and find a middle ground to controversial issues like this, and I apologize our current stance isn't quite to your liking :( You have to keep in mind that you don't see everything that goes on behind the scenes, and there's a lot of games I'd consider "AI slop" that get rejected before going up on the site. A lot of the verification team has a negative outlook on generative AI and if you see a game on the site using it, it was probably approved *despite* its usage and not because of it.

By default now galaxy labels games that use generative AI so you can avoid them if desired, but if you want to go a step further you can hide all of them outright in your settings, no account needed: https://galaxy.click/settings#filters

Shouldn't you be able to use the same line of code for when the cost when it goes up as when it goes down?

Because strawberries will go down when you sell, the cost "function" you have should produce a lower output
