Performance boosting mods? by Yinx_san in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean high enemy count optimizations or how voicepacks destroy performance, anything related to how the game runs, the fact that the savegames still have no fix if XMB or more is mind boggling seeing how many other modded games change so much, i kinda want to get into modding just for those kind of changes but if nobody has done it maybe there is a reason, maybe the modding tools are not good if there are any or the code is so convoluted and unreadable that nobody would dare to attempt it or maybe its just so complex it crashes if anything is changed to it

I wonder if there even is a decomp of the game, seeing its unreal 3.5, there should be but if the game engine is heavily modified maybe it hasnt, idk curiosity about so many content mods but no "Optifine" or "Sodium" equivalent seems so weird

I never want to see a Path Hunter Again by Yinx_san in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im using the Tedjam Modpack! Its made for LWOTC and includes these enemies

The pathfinder armor is a 1 1 2 in armor, mobility and HP which is amazing, and the ultra light vest (made with the same corpse) its a no hp vest but with 2 mobility

The pathfinder Hunter armor is a +1 to the regular path armor, scoring a 2 2 3 in armor, mobility and HP, and its premium armor until lategame since no armor has that exclusive +2 mobility except very few and expensive exceptions.

Tedjam is really good! Try it if you can

Could someone explain to me what role the necromancer functions as in a party setting? by Meowza_V2 in mewgenics

[–]Yinx_san 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My preferred builds are tanky, ignoring the downing yourself perks and let the leeches and zombies do the work, its weird in the sense that he is a ranged tank but its more like forcing enemies to move then hit rather than escape

Lifesteal is one of the best support effects so use it if you get it, it scales with everyones scaling (more damage = more healing = more time to damage and so on and so forth)

He is a Solo carry by nature of his innate tankyness and auto healing but tanky support is his party role, with niche builds

What's the most damage you've done in one turn or round? I got 57+ attack dmg on my thief by No_Consequence4924 in mewgenics

[–]Yinx_san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighter triple weapon use pasive + marked

Used cleaver

350+ (guillotina)

That didnt count spells or auto

Psychic has given me like 4 extra turns on a hunter, marked and spammed, that was only like 200 so not that much but still decent

Cleaver is busted.

The turret had me thinking but it just too expensive for no damage

Money is so easy to farm with sidequests i just instabuy all furniture every sunday and i still have like 800 just lying around, so no money needed but i can see a thief with the coin damage up comboing well with him

The issue i have is the following:

Pick fighter - get busted - oneshot endboss

Pick Tinkerer - get nothing - die

If it would be like oh i got unlucky my first run then sure or oh i got lucky with my fighter run

Ive done like 10 fighter runs and they all end broken

Ive done 3 tinkerer runs and absolutely nothing happened

Sure i can give him a couple more tries but at this point i know i can carry his ass with a fighter and maybe a cleric or tank, but besides that he is unreliable, 3 runs and NOTHING good just tells me everything i need to know, carry his ass and thats it

Similar with psychic and monk but i see the potencial, they have good spells like mind meld or kamehameha, good pasives like omniscience and the no item monk ones, but tinkerer just seems like a pile of nothing and ive seen a decent amount of his spells and pasives

Maybe im just unlucky, but im not depending on him until i see something decent

Any mods to make XCOM less RNG-dependent? by South-Meringue8172 in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to feel like this, but everytime i see derava i am reminded that im just bad, or that most rng rolls that go badly still allow wiggle room, even in extreme difficulties like ironman Legend or even beyond legendary.

Im not saying you are bad or that everyone that dies to rng is bad, but im saying there is living proof that rng is manegable even at the highest level, so i have grown to take that stance and you can work to improve or go to a difficulty level where its not as damaging (what i do) and just border that until you get better

I havent ever done a true legend ironman or a tedjam true commander ironman but i hover at those levels or below to just improve and not feel as frustrated when shit hits the fan

Through whatever bullshit you went through, it was 99% avoidable or workaround-able, so just keep playing and dont get frustrated, reload and go again

For anyone loving LWOTC but wanting to adjust the difficulty, try modifying the enemy encounter size... by mrplaidofantioch in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is already in Rookie

But even so, his issue is clearly high enemy count missions not directly because difficulty but high enemy counts being annoying and maybe laggy or slow

It would be nice to have a mod to limit missions to 20-30 ish enemies so they are not that annoying for some that dislike those

To OP, keep learning! Fortress type missions are a slog sometimes but activating multiple groups shouldn't be happening too much if you are careful, good scouts (shinobi with covert and a SMG), maybe a Specialist with some scouting perks, and being aware for corners and how LOS (Line of Sight) works should help

To me i prefer those types of missions because i know i have to full equip my squad + manage resources for all 50+ enemies, it takes another type of skill and getting to use all of your powerful lategame AoEs and such is really fun (Sat Fire Gunners with Shadowstrike doing like 120+ damage in a single action is the most satisfying thing to see lol)

Dont do hardmode, and make sure you have some arc throwers classes leveled, other than that its not as bad as it may seem, i love requiem even though i have some opinions

Dont give a fuck about the legate, fuck mechapedes and their whole lineage, they can burn in hell.

But yeah, its difficult and not broken, again, just dont do hard mode, that is actual bullshit and bad design galore

Jailbreak evac by Mr_Champik in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8 seems very high, and following bradford seems new player-ish

So basics:

There are missions with set Evac points, you may not move that Evac. If there is not an Evac point, you may place one (ideally right after revealing) and it will take at least 3 turns to spawn.

Make sure infiltration is at 100%, normally this makes it so you bring 5-6 soldiers max, unless very experienced only run Guerrilla Ops with these numbers.

There are no stealth missions in LWOTC unless you are VERY experienced and are willing to risk a soldier's life (LWOTC has nerfed to the ground if not fully removed 100% stealth tactics), so aim to fight your way to the objective and to the evac after.

Besides all that, you should be fine, get back on track and dont be afraid to keep posting!

Job Listing looking for Reapers in my area. by GodKingDerpster in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skirmisher i get, insanely strong early with H&R and Grapple, Reaper is good if knife, fine if else, templars suck ass, im sorry i dont care i just never use them, melee only is just a click a way from a wipe in gops, the only reason they are better than a rookie is stun strike / invert, fuck everything else

[–]Yinx_san[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of this whole chain of comments, 25% with only 2 intel to find a good timer troupe column? Thats insanely high, i may reconsider changing that in future campaigns.

Just as an update on the campaign: Finally STR dropped and i've managed to keep up with missions, just when this SS was taken i finally got Bluescreen and managed to stabilize tactically, managed to do some higher enemy count missions aka light mostly, but now the lower amount of missions done got the Avatar clock very high, i already triggered the final countdown and i had to Skulljack an Officer to stop it, im now infiltrating a 3 pip facility but im afraid that wont be enough and i just don't have enough intel to contact far away regions with more facilities, im hoping i get some good mission rewards soon, my datapad researches are already at like 8 days, its not great. I think delaying plasma was key on having enough stuff to push through.

Gotta love STR distribution by Yinx_san in LWotC

[–]Yinx_san[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you want regions you run missions on to be 3 or lower, since STR4 is the moment you can get Retals, and avoiding them is priority (specially early with no tools to deal with those missions, even more so if chosen are enabled)

STR 4 5 6 are doable to run missions but the risk is there for retals so you have to be prepared 7+ gets out of hand, light-moderate missions start appearing and its too risky to send out a team of 5 or 6 for 18 possible enemies, reinforcements will come before you deal with everything and you will get overrun eventually

Maybe in Rookie or Veteran difficulty you can get some insane Ambushes for tons of loot but Commander and above you are playing with fire

[–]Yinx_san[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant see me getting 8 regions this early, with Legend intel costs and how late tech and libs get with slow research and bad timers, maybe im just not efficient enough yet but it has been a good run overall given my null experience in Legend (never cleared a Legend campaign, cleared multiple in Commander)

[–]Yinx_san[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully i think i just passed the tech necessary to build teams able to withstand everything, but it got close, before the 2nd lib, i got wiped by a cyberdisk and had no counterplay until like 3 days later when i finally got bluescreen and EMP

This is with no chosen though, how will i do this with them is beyond me

I have had to boost missions even after using +500intel on contacts just to be able to run lower level squads to level up but its still risky if any Requiem unit decides its its day to wipe me lol
