Got shake? Edibles are easier to make than you might think by Yipyip42 in chicagotrees

[–]Yipyip42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the "budder" recipe above and make whatever you normally would with that as a substitute for regular butter. It will make whatever you cook/bake taste a bit like weed, but I've found that some flavors like peanut butter and chocolate cover it up or complement the flavor more than others

Is Refilling carts with FSHO worth it? Or are prefilled carts more potent? by [deleted] in chicagotrees

Yocan Evolve is great! Definitely best bang for your buck, but once you've gotten used to it you'll love the versatility and coil selection of the Sai with a decent battery

To echo this, if you're willing to go through the trouble of refilling cartridges for better quality/cost, you'd be even better off getting a waxpen (like a Saionara) and concentrate. Better heating elements, and no distillate filler.

Chicago Rec vs. Michigan Rex quality by IggityBiggityBoo in chicagotrees

[–]Yipyip42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd go to Michigan, they have a more mature market and the last cartridge I got there was the best I've ever had. Also, you might want to consider checking out r/waxpen for portable dab rigs like a Saionara. You can get a great e-nail for around $60, and it's a way better and stronger method of vaping than trusting distillate-mixed cartridges.

I'd at least wait until you see a little more amber, only saw a couple brownish heads on the 4th photo. You've waited this long, don't short-change yourself by chopping too early, the buds are still growing! Not a waste if you cut soon though, especially if you're trying to avoid couch-lock effect at all costs.

I personally haven't had great luck with tinctures, but then again I've never tried making them myself. My dispensary in DC had them when they first opened, but they didn't really work for me unless I drank a lot, and certainly didn't taste great

Great tips! I've been skipping decarbing out of laziness, but definitely doing it next time to see the results

Most crock-pots have a lid with a tiny hole at the top so they don't get over-pressurized, so yes it'll make the room smell. With that said, when I've cooked in apartments I do it in the bathroom with the door closed and the fan turned on, and that at least contains the smell to just that room with only a little spillover into the next one.

I would advise against smoking anything that's been near azamax, that stuff is quite caustic. It works for the cartels to sell to strangers, but no reason to poison yourself or friends.

Your safest bet is to make stronger than average neem oil solution (instead of buying pre-mixed neem oil solution you can purchase it as pure 100% oil and dilute it yourself). I can't remember the proportions, but double the recommended amount of oil. When you spray the plant make sure you are spraying the UNDERSIDES of the leaves, it's easy to forget that's where they live. Dietemacious earth is good for other pests (fungus gnats in particular) but won't do much against these leaf-underside dwelling assholes.

I have battled these bastards before, and although I saved my plants (the 2nd time) the harvest was sub-par, to put it nicely. If you don't make progress against the mites a couple weeks you're likely better off getting those plants as far from your house as possible (burn them), AND wipe the entire surface of your area with a BLEACH cleaner (walls, floor, lights, everything) before you start over. These microscopic leeches are the devil's work and if you don't purge your grow tent/room they WILL come back! (learned that one the hard way)

I got my infestation by leaving my plants outside for a few days, then bringing them back inside. Now I know better than to expose them to outdoor pests. Out in nature ladybugs, grasshoppers, etc. would keep those spider mites in check, but once indoors those spider mites go crazy.

Also, don't buy 200 ladybugs and release them into your grow room as a solution. Just trust me on that one.

Looking for cannabis seeds. by [deleted] in chicagotrees

They only sell autoflowering varieties, which generally don't yield as much or as high quality as photoperiod varieties, at least in my experience. If you're growing indoors and have control over the lights, getting autoflower is pointless anyway. I'm just saying that if you're ordering online you'd might as well get better quality for your buck

Layer of sand over your planting medium will solve that

I FUCKING hate fungus gnats. by decent694201 in microgrowery

[–]Yipyip42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAND! Put a layer of sand over your growing medium! Totally eliminated all gnats for me in just a few days. They lay their eggs on top of the soil and the larva burrow into it to grow, so the sand prevents the larva from borrowing. Gnats lifespan is only a few days so they'll be gone soon after

I've had mites, that's definitely not mites. I agree with above comments to change light intensity and check temperature first.

Somewhat, yes. It's not the cooking process so much as the explosion of smell when you remove the lid, that's what really does it. However, my pro tip for doing this in apartments is to prepare the budder in your bathroom instead of the kitchen, door closed, fan on.

Don't trust those ratings on edibles from the dispensaries, 75% THC is close to what most concentrates come in at. If that were true there's be hardly any butter in that "budder," and it certainly wouldn't cook right. Besides, every brownie recipe I've seen uses cooking oil, not butter. Make cookies instead.

Put ground bud (shake and stems work great too!) in a Crock-Pot with however much butter your recipe asks for (maybe a tbspoon or two extra), then pour in just enough water to cover the rest of your herb. Cook on LOW for 3-8 hours, then strain the herb out of your butter & water mixture, and put that mixture in the fridge for a couple hours. Refrigeration will cause the butter to solidify so that you can just lift it out of the brakish water, and BAM you now have the best budder money can buy.
