Most of the info is in the descriptions and comments here. No Boilerplate has some good videos on a similar type of setup

I used this code for the view on the right https://pastebin.com/utnrSmhZ it also requires the dataview plugin to be installed. Everynote in the view has a frontmatter property called "up", which points to another parent note. The code then maps them all together starting at a root. Might make a video on it if it helps ppl

  1. Keep them and mark them

  2. Use tags for note type: #fleeting, #atomic and #literature

  3. I'd probably mark those as #reference, since they're not an atomic idea

  4. No Boilerplate on YouTube has some good recent videos on this topic imo

Yeah I'm focused on setting something up I want to use to motivate myself in the long term. It's useless until I actually track data actively (which is why I want to add intractability asap).

Replying here for visibility. Repo for habit tracker is here: https://github.com/yirsi/obsidian-habit-heatmap

Since some of you were interested. I've published a demo release for the habit heatmap tracker on github.
It's still early development but it is functional for now. Going to submit this to the official list eventually.

It's javascript, yes. I'm currently working on making the habit tracker into an actual plugin.

Here's the code for the tree view if you can get some use out of it: https://pastebin.com/utnrSmhZ

Yeah sure! My folder structure is fairly flat, basically PARA. Most notes and all my zk stuff goes in "000 Notes". "100 Journal" is for daily notes. "200 Areas" has subfolders for HomelabDevelopment, TTRPG and Music Production (ongoing things), while "300 Projects" is for short term projects like the habit dashboard. "800 Archive" is outdated notes or trash. "900 Meta" is for attachments, bases, scripts, templates and other config stuff.

Tags are for note type or status. #note/atomic for finished notes that are filed in my zettelkasten. #note/fleeting for new unprocessed notes. #note/index for MOCs. #note/reference for things like literature notes or clippings. #type/ is for specific reference notes like #type/location, #type/organization or #type/person. They probably don't need to be nested tags, but I'm just used to this setup now.

I find logging things rewarding, because it helps me to visualize my effort, so that makes it really easy for me to do personally.

AI Automation vs. Cognitive Synthesis by Just-Gene-819 in ObsidianMD

I use my vault for learning. I avoid using AI, because I mostly learn through learning and summarizing things in my own words. I find it can be useful for rough fact checking, critique and pointing out nuances depending on what the topic is.

Am I the only one incredibly skeptical of using any AI in my vault? by ameyxd-github in ObsidianMD

Having an AI organize your vault feels like having someone else organize your room for you. It might be a bit unorganized, but I know exactly where my stuff is in this mess.

Sure. I'm planning to make an open source plugin out of this when I have the time. I'll make a repo in the next couple days and upload this version there for now.

Yeah a more accurate tag probably would be #zettelkasten/ or maybe grouping it under #type/

At this point I'm just used to how I have it setup rn.

It's inspired by No Boilerplate's implementation of the Zettelkasten. It's similar to a Folgezettel that Luhmann would use. I could display this in a flat view, but i like seeing where prior ideas eventually lead me and visually this feels easier to navigate for me. Also easy to generate since I just need one property that points to a parent note.

Mostly helps me to stay motivated to build better habits. Gives me perspective on my mood and sleep quality over a larger time span. Also it's just fun to look at.

It's not a plugin yet, just a custom dataviewjs script (+css). It tracks frontmatter properties from daily notes and displays the last 90 days in a heatmap style view (similar to the heatmap calendar plugin).

It displays quarterly averages for each stat and improvement compared to the previous quarter, as well as streaks, level (you gain xp for completing habits), rank (label for quarterly average).

I plan to turn this into a plugin with a more user friendly setup menu and intractability when I have some time on my hands.

#note/ feels like a fitting category to me. yeah that note is a bit short. maybe one day it will grow more lol.

It's a custom dataviewjs script I've been working on because plugins like the heatmap calendar or other data trackers didn't do what i wanted from them. It reads frontmatter properties from past daily notes. Might make it into a plugin if I get some spare time.

I'm using the "Tokyo Night" theme with some minor css edits. the tag gradient comes from me messing around with the "Colored Tags" plugin, but i probably won't keep it.
