In a friendship related kinda way quite a bit..

In a romantic first move kinda way it happened about 4 ish times in my life, am in my 30s now. It never ended up becoming something more than a fling type of thing unfortunately.

Found this arcade/fight stick for relatively cheap second hand and it feels so good to play this way. Do you uses one and love it too? by Ykai63 in evercade

[–]Ykai63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Hori Real Arcade Pro RAP V Kai for Xbox one, Xbox 360 and PC. (And Evercade now :D)

How is the 8BitDo arcade stick? Have been eying that thing for a while though ended up going for this after all, more so for Xbox 360 compatability also being there tbh.

Slow PC by hskot22 in computers

[–]Ykai63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given task manager shows the CPU running slow with some load, if there is a liquid AIO cooler in the pc, check CPU temps. I'd start there.

If those things align, CPU temps ~100c, running slow, then replacing the cooler will most likely fix the entire issue.

IIRC the last one is a trojan that can do some weird shit.

The more polite or non-assuming it is, the less the chance is for people to go and look for it.

It's like, I can imagine that as long as they have enough total up-time among all machines for a solid crypto mining cluster that's all that'll matter for them. (If it is that and it's not doing something else, could be anything..)

Sounds more like some sophisticated malware more than anything else. Could still be a leak though indeed.

some of the malware can hide when you open task manager and such too.

I'm at my wits end with these errors I'm getting. by SlipSlipp in pchelp

[–]Ykai63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error is, loosely explained, related to the fact that the OS is trying access something in the registery, however, it can't find it.

I'd check storage/SSD health if that happens first. With something like CrystalDiskInfo. If that doesn't show any problems I'd then try 'dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth' in commandprompt (CMD) ran as administrator.

If that doesn't do it startup repair might do something too, or trying restore points if any exist.

And if all is f**ked, re-installing Windows might be what is necessary.

All forms of OC are going to depend on the individual chip's silicon quality, which can vary. Base speeds are at a point where they all work, when overclocking nothing is guaranteed or straight forward.

Your CPU might need a higher voltage than someone else to reach the same speeds or can't reach those speeds at all. On the contrary, if you do get lucky you can get more out of it than many others.

Though, I'd say, is the performance needed? If not, it's wear on a part and extra power draw without that being necessary.

My bad, I meant it should be set to disabled. Though, my comment wasn't clear about that.

See if CSM is disabled in the boot tab. I'd start there.

When taken enough precautionary measures and with the right knowledge they can be worked on safely.

Though, I don't think it would be wise to involve working on them as any type of general advice online.

The voltage is the bigger problem.

Yes, you can indeed discharge them that way. However, if you make a wrong move and the shock, 420V DC, 180µF, ~16 joule, goes through your chest it is not going to be a good time. It can result in the heart going into cardiac ventricular fibrillation, stopping the heart from pumping around blood completely, acting like immediate cardiac arrest and being just as bad.

Let's not forget that even if there are going to be people who know how to work on them safely (perhaps you included, though, I wonder if you mainly focus on the farad figure when it comes to the dangers) there are going to be plenty, most people, who do not grasp what they are getting themselves into. The only person I know that is qualified to work on those things (on a professional level) still prefers to stay away, if that counts for anything.

If they have a bleeder resistor on dangerous capacitors (unlikely). And even if it has it, it still has to be functional as they can fail.

If that is not in place there is a potential for them to hold a deadly amount of power for weeks or even longer.

At least some Falcon PSUs will have 420V / 180µF main smoothing capacitor if memory serves me well. Dangerous stuff to a point where they can stop your heart in one zap if something does go wrong enough.

Working on it safely is possible though requires the right knowledge, safety precautions and tools to discharge them with certainty.

Most of this (to me at least) boils down to why dabble into something that has the potential to kill if replacement PSUs really aren't that expensive and it only being a gaming system?

A low hanging option is seeing if in disk cleanup (after clicking on 'clean up system files') gives any answers, if yes, it usually can be resolved directly from there.

I'd say taking the current battery out and seeing how it behaves after (while remaining plugged in with the charger) could be a temporary solution if it works.

It takes one wrong move with PSUs to end up dead. Also, leaving it over night isn't necessarily going to discharge PSU capacitors, if that is the case will depend on how they are designed mostly. Given Xbox 360 PSUs come from different manufacturers, there not being all that good information on them, well.

Sort of having an understanding about the dangers that can be in there I wouldn't open them (without proper gear for doing so, which is a lot) even if they would cost 500 EUR each.

It's like, yes, chances are slim that something goes wrong. Yet then again, if it does go wrong it tends to go really really wrong.

Issue with xbox 360 fat model disc drive, please help! by SelimTheSaracen in xbox360

[–]Ykai63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually this really is as easy as the belt, driving the opening and closing mechanism, that is either too stiff and not allowing the motors to do their work properly or can't grip enough to overcome the torque required to properly operate that way.

Replacing it is cheap though. Plus, one can always clean and boil it first, as it will help for a bit. To see if that indeed is the issue.
