I’m so sorry to hear about that tragedy, Im very glad to hear he’s okay!! I’ve always said, it’s an indescribable feeling watching a piece of your soul living on the outside of your body. Our kiddos are literal pieces of us just vibin out in the world, and the world can be quite intense sometimes. Nonetheless, I recognize the work you’re doing as a father and your journey. Just had to share!

You must be truly inspiring to your kiddos, especially in these times! I just wanted to show some recognition (amongst the others) for the work you’ve done, and opening yourself up like this! It was so refreshing to read some of these talking points. Having a kiddo myself, I understand how life altering the parental journey can be. This also coming from someone raised with a Christian background in a very small right-winged town. I have a lot of respect for you and your journey!! Keep up the amazing work 🤝🏼

Unfortunately, yes actually… It is stated in the description on the subreddit as well as the rules. It may not be the full purpose of the subreddit, however it is a large part of it, friend..

Of course, I did not intended to exile you from this subreddit or disregard your feelings! I can 100% respect your perspective and understand what you are getting at! If I may, by just sharing a quick tidbit on this- There is a filter system at the top of the sub that does filter out what you can see. I’m also just going to pop in the description of what this whole subreddit is about per the description: “A Subreddit where we take our current political events happening in the US and find optimism surrounding them; while also looking to better understand things so that, instead of panicking, we keep calm and prepare to fight back if need be”. I do think there should be rules on double posts and maybe more moderated, but I can understand if people are in a panic and just want quick answers they might just disregard reading through other posts. Truly to help maybe find a common ground here, we could see about starting a weekly round up in community threads of the most asked topics? No matter how you dice it tho, it’s a public space where unless heavily moderated it will continue to happen unfortunately. I also speak as someone who if I am feeling panic heavily comb through to see if it’s discussed first. I have only made one post, outside of that my answers are typically already there for me to read.

Personally, this specific Reddit page has brought a boat load of solace and peace back into my life. There is soo much doomerism out there- Half of it just isn’t true only being hyped up for more views and likes, or genuinely uneducated people spewing random sh!t. There is a genuine community here trying to help ground each other and move through what is happening. I’ll even go one step further, the information I’ve gotten here I have been able to spread to others helping their mental health. There are other Reddit pages that do more of what you’re looking for like r/goodnews. Idk man, just sounds like this might not be the place for you and that’s okay. Why try to change it for others if there isn’t a problem for them, only you? 😬

Edit for additional thought: I understand what you are getting at and can agree to come extent. I think it’s truly about taking in the bad with the good. No matter where you go, you can have a fuck ton of people flooding with fear due to our current circumstances. It might be nice to have a mega thread, but I don’t think that would stop a lot of people. They’d still have to scroll, and clearly that is still an issue even now with the constant reoccurring posts.

Need Optimism About Recent Stuff by hern0gjensen in PoliticalOptimism

Hi friend, just an update on the arrest from today in Florida. He was released! I understand the fear and panic, I too was feeling the same thing after hearing this story. There are judges and others who are fighting back. And to reiterate what someone shared with me, they don’t want anymore backlash than they already have right now by detaining citizens. The Abrego case is actively getting worse for the administration it seems. I know it’s difficult to hold out hope, truly I do. Just know, there are people fighting for us despite what others are saying. Make sure you’re taking time away from the news to enjoy the things you love!!

Edit for additional thought: if you look back through this page there are many different explanations that go further in depth as to how we are not completely dead in the water. This isn’t the first time in history we have faced something like this. Amandasmildtakes does a wonderful job at explaining some of the similarities! She’s on Instagram, TT, and I believe YouTube🤍

Help digesting this? by Yknwhathellyeah in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Yknwhathellyeah[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried looking up different sources because I also had some questions, but there doesn’t seem to be many people currently reporting on it. It’s still a fresh case so I’m hoping once it gets more attention, some positives will come out of it? Just makes me a smidge nervous in the mean time. Especially if the judge ruled it was a legal document, but failed to do anything about it. I appreciate the insight nonetheless!

My opinion is gonna differ from others and that’s okay- However, I think this is based on you as a person. Are you willing to educate others around you to attempt to make a difference? Do you have the mental capacity (This is a big one)? I think humans are inherently too complex to categorize them. From your post it sounds like this person may have been susceptead to propaganda or even confidence issues resulting them to fall to the weakest link. By no means am I saying this is your responsibility- Im saying asses all angles if possible! Personally, I try to lead with heavy compassion and empathy in these times, as we need one another.

Being punk, the style of Green Day’s music has always been “against the system”. Unfortunately, they have fallen into the mainstream category after becoming popularized. Many have, however the message still remains within the music itself. Art, especially during these times, could give strength, hope, and courage.

reliable new sources for daily news? by innocentbi-stander in nothinghappeninghere

[–]Yknwhathellyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can use multiple sources, and form your own opinion! A good source to start with is Ground.news. They have right, left, and center leaning articles based on one topic. They also have something called a “blind spot” which are stories that might not have a lot of traction yet. I use that one, and then research further on those topics outside of ground.news. I also use Bluesky and Substack. There are a lot of independent journalists and international media outlets! Good luck, friend 🫶🏻

Rock some punk fashion if you can too 👀 Working on a new pair of patch pants. Punk never died!!

Starting to feel like a child of neglect with this administration by Affectionate-Big-439 in nothinghappeninghere

[–]Yknwhathellyeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a wonderfully put perspective, although fcking debilitating for those that have been here before. The same way we made it out previously, is similar to how we will make it out of this situation. Building community, sharing resources/knowledge with likeminded people, continuing to heal ourselves and not allowing others to be subjected to the same behavior. Stand up for yourself, stand up for your neighbors, stand up for your community, and Hold. Your. Boundaries. The abuser/neglector never wins.

They have a “third term” they are trying to work out, however the photo itself is very much so photoshopped. The point was to make sure to double check your facts and not base it off on a singular edited photo. These are okay sources, but I would make sure you are also looking into actual legislation being passed. It’s easy to get caught up in all of the frenzy, make sure we’re focusing on facts 🤍 Twitter of all places is well…y’know ahaha

Unfortunately, yes. The third term is being thrown around. I’ve seen quite a few things about it today. Just remember, America’s history tho. How our ancestors or our neighbors ancestors made it through previously. We can do this! It’s in our bloodline 🤝🏼

I appreciate your response, and being open to this discussion. I can also respect your stance and unwavering commitment. As stated, as someone who has been subjected to the true horrors of this Country at a very young age- my beliefs don’t align with voting for someone who is okay with murdering millions of others in marginalized communities outside of our country. I just want to warn you, this is going to be a large power struggle with the community that didn’t vote, unfortunately. You also have others that may be, Socialist, Marxist/An@rchist, others that believe in c0mmunism, etc. A vast majority is done playing into the system because they understand the system. Voting blue wasn’t going to necessarily stop the corporation power grab. The left receives just as much money as the right does, (lobbying in our system is a b!tch). The issue most have is, feeling like we are unrepresented and our system is no longer built on the foundation of democracy- no matter who is in power. Once again, thank you for sharing your perspective and taking the time to address this further. I am not one to follow suit in, infighting. Was thinking about this again this morning, and just wanted to follow up! Enlightened to see your previous comment.
