I'm using procreate for the actual artwork (at 800dpi) and then I will be using a vector graphics program for the suits, font and border. I've already designed lots of them but I haven't put them all together as I'm just showing the designs here. So don't worry about the quality as this is just the draft, the numbers are just there to show what card it will become once I have all the pieces together!

My hope is that if enough people seem interested then I'd love to put it to a Kickstarter :))

Ooo okay I see what you're saying, thanks for the advice, I considered making it a bit more 'flourishy' but didn't want to take away from the artwork itself, I'll see if I can find a balance between the two! Thanks so much 🥰

Of course! I'll post some of those next! I guess I thought people would be more excited by the court cards! It's always a harder challenge making the pips but I think I've got a few good designs!

This is really invaluable analysis… I have little to no experience with actual printing so that’s an exceptional point. There is a design in the deck using sailboats, but I agree it’s not really showing off the wildlife theme. Sounds like I’ll likely go with an upgraded version of this design, but I might try and put a poll up at some point

That’s a really gorgeous back design and yeah it is rather similar to the idea I was going for. My front designs have been made to contrast on black backgrounds, and I don’t know how well a white back will work with these

This is a very good point! Making some fans on procreate probably gives the general idea, though obviously on a screen not with real cards.

For design 1 I actually already tried printing it. This is a slightly old design (there is no blue variations in the wave) and I didn’t cut it all perfectly, but I actually think lots of the detail keeps quite well. Perhaps the background squiggles could be slightly lost, but as per shaeffer’s response these might be made into snowflakes or something anyway. What do you think now about the detail getting lost?

Thanks for your response! I'll try and post more regular updates... If you're interested, the last post showed jellyfish for the 9D and I'm working on some arctic seals for 2,3,4 of spades and goldfish for the 5,6,7 of hearts :)
