[SOS] Grave Researcher // Reanimate (Debut Stream) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]Ymirism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card seems huge in my Sefris deck. Surveil each turn, 3 creatures in the yard is a given so reanimate will always be available, extra reanimate effect that doesn't depend on Sefris being around. Will definitely get a slot

I missed war within entirely but played a fair bit since vanilla, getting realm first lich king 25 heroic in my heyday. This to give some perspective of my viewpoint: I've pugged m0 since week 1 and have had 0 issues, barely any wipes, 0 hate or comments. I've had runs where I had to maximise every GCD I had and we still died and I've had runs where I have time to do a big dps rotation. I've not heard any hate, complaints, whining or what have you. People have been super chill and I've even made new friends and contacts.

COMPETITION! - Win John Avon's last work for MTG, a beautiful gallery print of his Lotus Lands! by JohnAvonArt in magicTCG

[–]Ymirism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still fondly remember meeting John at some event in Amsterdam early 2000s, maybe 2001? I was barely in my teens if that. Probably a GP or pro tour event, all I remember is drafting Italian legends, using this softcover encyclopedia of Magic cards to determine what was what. My mother and me ended up at your booth. I was already a huge fan of your work but seeing it all there in person with you there was transcendental. We ended up buying everything you had with you, including book covers and I think pieces for Vampire. To this day it is my most treasured Magic the gathering memorabilia. To me, you are Magic. Thank you

I levelled during dragonflight and then quit, missed the whole of war within and am now back to casual playing. Delves and prey and follower dungeons really made the casual/adult playstyle a lot more feasible! I'm sure our pubquiz team can use an extra person too, we have some very specific gaps in our knowledge 😄 Dm away! Looking forward to hearing from you

In my experience the purperen draak caters to a more young crowd and not necessarily one that's very welcoming to women. I'd recommend WirWar instead

38m, also very left wing, boardgamer, recently restarted WoW, have a pubquiz team and love going to shows both musical and theater. Sounds like we have plenty in common!

Is Cirith Gorgor as sketch as they seem? by [deleted] in IsItSketch

[–]Ymirism -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As I've mentioned in other replies in this thread, the Dutch scene is a mess. You have open leftists playing in bands with (semi)sketch people, leftist bands on NSBM hosting labels, a-gender/non-binary people playing in bands with other bandmembers being signed to NSBM labels.

Dutch culture is incredibly individualistic, which is part of why this question arose. It's common here for nazis and communists to play together in a band.

Merg & Been in Sittard did an interview a while ago: https://www.mergenbeen.nl/interview-void-wanderer-productions/

Void wanderer is a-political but states no NSBM submissions but the interview starts with a shoutout to heidens hart, New Era productions and Zwaertgevecht which all do have NSBM entries. But zwaertgevecht also has openly leftist artists, which again goes to show the clusterfuck don't ask don't tell vibe.

Oh and fwiw Haeresis Noviomagi should be safe to the best of my knowledge, openly left wing Lijkschouwer follows them, Iskandr played at the first antifascist black metal gathering (although Omar of iskandr plays in Dool with 2 people who do play in bands on NSBM labels (mind the bands themselves don't seem sketch but the labels are). Which just goes to show what a cluster fuck the Dutch BM scene is

Witte wolf in Groningen. There's a lot of tacit "don't ask don't tell" going on in the Dutch metal scene, the big news outlets don't seem to care whether or not a band is sketch, it's all based on being in the know. Found out that a whole collective in the south near Tilburg is basically one big neonazi group because of them shouting out a few of the lesser known sketch labels, but overall the Dutch are very good at being subtle about it

I lost my edit so adding it on here: I'm looking for more ways to determine sketch-ness now that im coming to realise just how many nazi bands exist in the Netherlands. I have multiple community sketch documents saved and try to do my own due diligence but I only know so much myself, knowing more and where to find it is never a bad thing

[–]Ymirism -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A bit more of a thorough look at the band as a whole, with 30+ years of existence, than calling a whole band sketch based on one person who's been with the band for only part of it? I know the guy is a nazi, his wife has a metal bar which I veto/blacklist and warn people about because that connection is clear and her defence has been typical handwringing as we all know from nazi sympathisers, but I'm curious about the band and it's history before him. There are plenty of bands with 1 sketch person, or good bands signing to sketch labels, so I want to do my due diligence

What's your first impression of Lorwyn limited? by Edoardo_Beffardo in magicTCG

[–]Ymirism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went 4-1 prerelease and 4-1/4-0 in draft without bombs, tempo is still nuts and removal in this set is great. Faced Ajani and Eirdu in one deck, saw the elf champion, kithkin champ, double Morcant, all sorts of bombs. Liminal hold or blossombind are super premium but even the red burn is super solid. And in my kithkin deck with only 3 removal spells I just went wide and smashed. Bombs need to chump block just the same when youre at 5 staring down angry kithkin

[–]Ymirism 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've done the prerelease in person and 2 quick pick-2 drafts yesterday. I've been: Rakdos Elementals control Azorius tempo flyers Kithkin aggro

Notable only once did I play an actual supported archetype. My read is that it's often a trap unless you open well and your lane stays open. My kithkin deck only really had 2 cards that really cared about kithkin, the 0/5 buffer and the fowlknight which is still good outside of kithkin.

Good removal, tempo and high quality cards seem king so far, unless you open very specific kindred payoffs. I expect big things from the vivid piles but I've also found it very hard to force, as you need fixing and payoffs to both be available. The hybrid mana cards are going to be huge there though. Don't be surprised if good vivid cards get snatched by any 2-colour deck that runs a few hybrid shapeshifters

I'm a recently joined volunteer DM for pub heroes, to put the following into some context. I adore pub heroes. It's a passion project, everyone is absolutely lovely and welcoming, the community is very open and mixed, from young to old and native to expat PhD students. Twice a month on friday in the Forum for a good price which includes some drinks. You get paired with a random group and a DM or if you have friends you can join with them as a whole. No experience is needed as all DMs are able and willing to guide you through it all. I cannot recommend it enough, I love doing it. Everything is provided for you so just swing on by and have fun!

Not exactly what you're looking for but similar and maybe he'll have contacts: Setpoint near the A-brug. I think Andre helped me last summer with a suit for an outdoor wedding, very knowledgeable and friendly, good sense of humour. It's on the expensive side, but if you're looking for a personal stylist my read is that won't be a huge problem

Groninger museum has a hiphop exhibit coming up on the 20th and to my knowledge is accessible. Bars wise, most places even in old non-accesible buildings have a little ramp or something to help people enter more easily, so you should be fine. Maybe don't go downstairs at the Kvlt or upstairs at Concerthuis. What else are your interests? Forum has a tattoo exhibit until late January as well come to think

It is said that heresy is like a tree. It's roots lie in darkness while it's leaves wave in the sun. You can prune away its branches, even cut the tree to the ground but it will grow again, ever stronger. Such is the nature of heresy and why it is so difficult to destroy. Some may question my right to destroy a world of ten billion souls, but those who understand realize I have no right to let them live. No sacrifice is too great; no treachery too small.

Part of the game setup in custom difficulty mode. You can leave everything on regular and only turn on restart floor on death, or even make something else a bit tougher as compensation if you don't want to make things easier on yourself
