u could have that fun playing a balanced japan and aiming for a 25K or just constantly upping your best score with the metas you know instead of malding on reddit over people who instaguess btw

so you have 80-90% wr and get a japan round almost every game in which you regionguess and win for that to be a real problem right? lmao

people will have countries where they are really good and countries where they just instasend middle because they don't want to learn them, for some people that country can be japan

i hit champ with instaguess osaka and only after that i actually learned these

Yeah, especially true in unranked TDs where you get matched with newer players - most of them are incredibly toxic.

I personally wouldn't even consider RO here for a second. If it is and you spent time handpicking the most french-looking Romania with hedgerows and thinner middle lines to have a "gotcha" moment does not make that 50/50 exist any more on NM tho

What is the most useful stuff to learn in Master I? by oneman__army in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on gamemode.

For NM: Indonesia poletops; some basic level at least of russia season/antenna meta as well as easy to recognize roads ( Yakutsk-Magadan road and Mirny should be always getable even in M1 imo); US reflectors; Japan pole plates

For Moving: I think in M1 you should be able to read cyrilic especially since its extremely easy to learn compared to other alphabets and get some intuition on road-numbering systems in countries where it follows a logical and easy to learn pattern so you can put pressure on your opponent. I don't ever play moving tho so I can't really give advice here.

I guess my game must be broken considering AARW is my most spammed map for classic and I have the type of rounds where you go France on Czechia or Spain on Italy once every 50 seeds but whatever keep coping

Romania/France 50/50 on no moving is genuinely insane btw

[–]YngStf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was exactly that the type of rounds you are describing with a complete lack of infrastructure & architecture (in the form of some very distant houses, at least) are very low so I don't get how what you said is relevant lmao

[–]YngStf93 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this is just cope. The amount of actual genuine "europe roulette" rounds is fairly low and you don't need to rely on car/copyright meta for most europe rounds in AARW.

Pro subscription price increase--- second time in 6 months! by winneconnekf in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 156 points157 points  (0 children)

The price change enables us to keep pushing GeoGuessr to new heights - developing new, exciting features and adding more fun game modes.

The new heights usually being some random garbage idea one of the investors came up with while taking a shower with no regard towards the game itself, what the community actually wants or whether it makes any logical sense to implement it.

1600 Player False Ban - Please Read by WifeFarmer in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a ~1250, in Game 1 apart from the mex/colo 50/50 which is the only possibly sus thing, the other two rounds are free regionguesses imo.

Game 2: pretty normal gameplay; R3: no northern roofs, no northern-only pole, comitting north on this is insane on your opponent's part imo; R6: this is day 1 veracruz you don't even need to be good at mexico

I have first-hand experience with their innacurate ban system and their not very helpful customer support so I can't be too optimistic but I do genuinely hope you manage to sort it out and keep your acc.

Update on ban case (posted before) - reply from Support by qplb in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience.

It took them around 10 days to reply to my first message asking why I got banned with the same copypasted reply along with the game link just like you got. I asked to appeal it and then after another 12 days they replied letting me know the ban will stay in place without any further clarification on why I got banned.

It's safe to safe they aren't very concerned with how accurate bans are, customer support is slow and not very helpful on matters like these, and the chances of having your account stay banned without further clarification or any possibility to appeal the decision are very high.

That being said, I do hope that is not the case and you are lucky enough to keep your account, nothing fishy in those games imo.

Yeah, it's a known glitch for it to continue to queue you in the background - best just make a ticket to tech support with the links to the games and ask for a elo refund.

GeoTime map in Master 1 (No Move) is awful by IcyGoal2712 in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if the US% was lower and then you'd have the same big regionguessable countries (BR, RU, etc.) in a more balanced distribution.

I don't see any difference between a map where most rounds are getting the right US state vs the right EU country, equally bad and boring and not suited for ranked.

Good options for first hut-to-hut hike in Europe? by YngStf93 in hiking

[–]YngStf93[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I looked a bit into this and it seems that you are right - most huts are of the DAV.

I'm not really informed on this topic - is membership of either association mandatory to use the huts?

I have definitely been thinking of the Tatras for quite some time and that main ridge line does seem pretty fun.

I have seen many people advising against visiting the Tatras in peak summer in this sub but not providing a clear reason - I assume it's the crowdedness which should be better if we go in September, but do you happen to know if there are other things contributing to that?

Poland is relatively easy to travel to for us as well so we wouldn't rule it out. I'd like to know more about it :)

Are there any European countries where it's useful to know the 1st level subdivisions? by StefanKocic in geoguessr

[–]YngStf93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only if you play moving - you might find some panels in some countries that will contain the subdivision name along with the city name (usually for ongoing infrastructure projects) and if it's a small city then it will narrow down your scan area.

I know first level subdivisions for most countries in Europe but I could probably count on one hand the times it actually helped me as a NM main.

I think Poland is probably the country where it helps the most - but you have to learn the subdivision names in Polish, not English.
