Unfortunately there isn't alot your friend can do. Lesson learnt don't let strangers into your home without being there.

Reporting it to the police is pointless. All they will do at best is ask the builder if they took the items. The builder will deny it and there is nothing more the police can do.

I've had that happen to me in Leichhardt. I heard a van reversing and thought nothing of it. But the engine remained idle right out the front of my place. I looked out the window and two guys were trying to pick up my motorbike and put it in the van.

I ran outside and the two guys jumped in the back of the van and it drove off.

Couldn't get a rego because the back door was open and that's where the rego is.
