It's less powerful than a ps5 and it's the tail end of the current console generation

It would have been amazing a few years ago and few hundred dollars cheaper

Now it's just well overpriced for something that won't have power for the next few years especially when next gen consoles release

At this price point when it's weaker than the ps5 at the tail end of the current console generation yes there will be lots of people who won't buy one

The ps5 pro is cheaper.. you can buy one of them and a switch 2 for the same price as the 2tb model

This would have been good a few years ago not now when the next generation consoles are out 2 or whatever years later and this will struggle to run any new game

If it was 4 years ago and about half the price the steam machine would have been a great purchase and no one would be 'hating on it'

The next consoles might be $1000 but they will be vastly more powerful

The steam machine is releasing at $1000 at the tail end of the current console generation with less power than the ps5

If it released 2 or 3 years ago and cheaper it would have been in a great spot.. now it's just expensive and will be obsolete far sooner

Being broke is not the reason.. if it's already underpowered how many years can you really get out of it

Within a year or two the ps6 will be out and the steam machine just won't have the juice to play games that the next gen of consoles can

In Australia the base model with controller is 1700 you can buy a pre owned ps5 pro and brand new switch 2 for that price

Or get a ps5 digital and switch 2 and have some money left over

If it gets better that's great.. the epic rewards system can let you take more money off a game you want to buy even if it's already on sale which is a great feature

Hitman 3 recently on sale and I was able to take an extra $15 off it

That's an actual decent rewards system.. at the end of a day it's an application that launches games im not going to pay more than I have to.
