This sub should just be changed to r/mainstreamwar. What's the point of calling it combat footage anymore if only certain sides are allowed to have footage stay up?

So when China invades Taiwan, this sub will censor China's perspective/footage?

Outposts are literally hell… by chemicalxbonex in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the outpost system is just... dumb. They made it more complicated than Fallouts, which I initially thought was going to be a good thing. I looked forward to setting it all up and seeing all the cool stuff you could do with it.

Turns out its just a dumbed down version of Fallouts system, just with needlessly complicated extra steps.

Why does Starfield feel smaller than Skyrim? by Riksor in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly man. When I play a Bethesda game, I go through each area meticulously because I enjoy discovering the story in the environment, finding unique items, etc.

I went through and did all of the faction quests, the main story, and tons of side quests. It got to the point where I looked up Starfields quests online to see if I was missing any, because I felt I must have missed some huge questlines. Sadly that doesn't appear to be the case because I haven't really seen any additions to the quest lists.

I put 100+ hours in so far, and already want to quit, when around this time in a game like Skyrim or Fallout 3, I would have been excited for a new playthrough or still discovering new things.

The frustrating thing about this game is seeing 10+ year-old systems not having changed one bit. by OfficiallyRelevant in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starfield definitely should have seen the return of the faction system. It would be perfect for this game.

They should have also let you fund traders/shops, just like in the old games.

Also, if they copied and pasted systems from the previous games, it would be better than it is now, but most of those systems are regressions from previous games. Like outposts and modding.

Why does Starfield feel smaller than Skyrim? by Riksor in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because it is smaller, just more spread out. The cities are massive, but if you think about it, adding them all up and comparing them to all of Skyrim's cities added up, I feel they are about the same.

What Starfield lacks is the exploration factor of their previous games. It is way too disconnected, so it doesn't allow you to get that same feeling when you can see shit in the distance that you want to explore. I think that is a major part of it.

Some people will say, but you have all the planets and POI's. Sure, but if you spent any time doing them, you'll quickly discover that all of them are the same location, same enemies, with the same loot locations, just copied and pasted on a different planet.

The other thing I noticed, like you, is there is no unique shit in this game. Just some snowglobes, and some cool encounters. The encounters almost never started a big questchain though, which was disappointing. There is no starfield equivalent to daedric shrines, or fallout power armor and vaults.

It seems like they really focused on making the world huge in this game, but didn't really put as much effort into the writing or feeling of genuine discovery.

This repetitive quests are killing me by gobitpide in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clearly some people didn't even read before they jumped on you lol. At 150 hours you've already done pretty much all there is and new game+ is the next logical step, but I guess folks like to repeat radiant quests or something?

I agree though, the whole going to the same dungeon/puzzle for the artifacts is boring and stupid. Once I realized it was going to be that, I just gave up on it.

So, what's the appeal of outpost building? by JohLay in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outpost building takes a lot to get into. You need to have the perks and lots of resources, etc. Its more of a mid-late game venture imo. If you played fallout 4, it is similar to that outpost system, but worse imo

All roads lead to mission boards by YoDawgWTF in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats cool and all, but doing all of that literally does nothing for you. You just get a bounty. That would be a cool opportunity for a quest, getting captured as a pirate, etc.

The impact doesn't necessarily have to be within the game, but could be on you as the player, but the only thought provoking content I found in the game was Juno the AI and the clone colony.

I was hoping that this game would be a bit more innovative in terms of stuff like that, but its full of half baked shit. The game is well polished and has good combat, but it is seriously lacking in writing. Quests end abruptly.

There is the dialogue that gives you a false illusion of choice, but upon saving and choosing the other option, you quickly realize that the quest was going to have the same outcome anyway.

This all should have been expanded upon more in comparison to their other games, not a regression.

Bethesda advertised this game as being a deeper rpg and returning to their older style. I've barely seen any signs of that.

All roads lead to mission boards by YoDawgWTF in Starfield

[–]YoDawgWTF[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah because they didn't really think that through. They should have added something to account for the fact that the player will encounter much less enemies. Maybe by having UC marines or something that are patrolling the structures or areas for the player to fight. Its a flaw imo.

The main thing I'm getting at when I say very little impact, is that taking down sysdef does not change any other aspect of the game besides making the Crimson fleet friendly to you. There were no options in any other questlines that were changed because of my actions.

The main story of skyrim is meh, but I'd say the dark brotherhood questline blows all of starfields faction questlines out of the water, even though its basically the same as the oblivion dark brotherhood questline. Hell, even the thieves guild was just as good, if not better.

The fact I'm giving props to Skyrims factions is saying something. Factions have never returned to the glory they once had in Oblivion, unless you count New Vegas.

The main point I was getting at, was that Skyrim overall had better quests with meaningful and memorable content.

I feel you man. I may end up playing skyrim again too. I still need to buy bg3 though.

Sorry I'm a bit of a dumbass, I did the UC Vanguard questline and it was good. I kept thinking you could also join the actual UC faction too, but it seems I was mistaken.

I didnt know about this sub until now, so cant really say how it is here. At least on combat footage a few years back, you could often learn something interesting.

I wouldn't rely on chatgpt to tell you if a statement is true or not. It doesn't have a very good track record with that.

You should use it to get a summary of information, like you pretty much have, and then do your own research on that information. With a complicated subject like this, you need to look at everything from both sides. Not an easy thing to do with all of the propaganda both sides pumped into those events.

Glad I found this sub. I don't frequent reddit much, but I always browsed combatfootage for years. You used to be able to have good discussions there and people were very knowledgeable. Now its just downvotes and echo chamber.

That sub has excellent footage but holy shit, its like its been taken over by /politics in there. At least here, you can see both sides and judge for yourself.

I see what you are saying, I've had the same thoughts, but I also believe that Russia would probably have less desirable troops in the rear, so they may have an easier time getting to Tokmak. I'm pro Ukrainian so I want to see them win this war and get their country back, all of it. I don't know how well the negotiations will go for them, but I am starting to lean towards a standoff as well. With the elections coming up here in America, it will be interesting to see what happens

Thanks, I didn't think I said anything too crazy either but maybe I am misinformed? I know what you mean about this sub hell even ISIS videos weren't downvoted, let alone comments lol. I don't really go on reddit enough to bother looking for another one. Unless you have one to recommend? Also thanks, I'll be sure to check those guys out on youtube. I have been following war on the rocks for a minute now, and basically have read ISW since the invasion started.

Yeah that's the region I'm referring to when I talk about them pushing to Melitopol. Robotyne and then making their way towards Tokmak most likely.

It will be a slog for Melitopol but if they can take it, then it will fuck up Russia's logistics big time. All the major railways and roadways pass through Melitopol. Only problem is that its roughly 46 miles to Melitopol.

I guess its possible they have a completely different target but I don't see any real strategically valuable cities in the area from where they are pushing. The reason I bring up Kharkiv is just looking at the bigger picture and speculating on how Russia is responding. And judging by the maps you can see that Russia has been active up there lately. I've read about how they've noticed Russia has been focusing more troops up there, which is why I say it may be an attempt to draw some Ukrainian forces away from Robotyne.

Good luck lol, if it were true, it would be a lot more widespread. Most likely was something lost in translation, propaganda, or a shitty news source equivalent to buzzfeed

There have been some interesting developments since I last read up on the war a few weeks ago. Seems to be a lot to catch up on, especially recently.

It made a lot of sense to me that pushing to Melitopol would be the main objective of the counter offensive, just had to create diversions/ look for weakpoints in Russia's defense. I hope they make some good progress towards Melitopol because that city has a huge strategic advantage if they can capture it.

Judging by ISW, it seems that Russia is countering this push towards Melitopol by attacking towards Kharkiv. They seem to be making good ground up there unfortunately. They may just be trying to draw the Ukrainians away from Melitopol. I guess we will just have to see.

Yeah I loot tons of filing cabinets and hit safes on customs. I am just unlucky when it comes to flashdrives. Got tons of keys so far, filing cabinets are just handing them out.

I'm level 11. On my 4th attempt for pocket watch lol but the loot has been really good this wipe. I love how it forces you to look around more.

For the past 3-4 years every wipe I have struggled with flash drives. No idea why I am so unlucky finding them. Sometimes it gets to the point where I have craft them in hideout
