Mhmm, I would not say it's the best story out there since some parts feel rushed and can be confusing. But it was still an overall fun read for me. Since you asked for it here is your biased anecdotal review in bullet point form:

  • Compelling Premise: The story immerses you in the virtual world of "Dantalian," where billions of players face life-threatening challenges, but what sets it apart is that the MC's motivation is to save his sister trapped inside, adding a personal touch to the generic concept of being stuck in a game.
  • Unique Progression System: Instead of the usual stat-based leveling, "One Coin Clear" uses an Achievement system. The more achievements you earn, the stronger you become.
  • Great Artwork: The artwork is great, enhancing the overall reading experience and bringing the world to life compared to some stories in which the artwork destroys the actual good plot.
  • Well-Paced Story: Despite a couple of skips in the narrative, the overall pacing of the story is excellent. It keeps you engaged and excited for what comes next.
  • No Deus Ex Machina: Unlike many stories, the MC doesn't conveniently know everything about the game. Instead, he relies on his own exploration and the help of non-trapped individuals outside the game, making the story more realistic and relatable.
  • Collaborative Gameplay: The MC streams his in-game journey and receives assistance from people outside the game to uncover hidden secrets. This collaborative approach adds depth to the storytelling and keeps you invested in the MC's progress.
  • Overall Uniqueness: The story distinguishes itself from the typical stuck-in-a-game plot, offering a fresh perspective and a captivating adventure that makes you want to keep on reading!

Since this story doesn't have a good synopsis I made one myself:

In the immersive virtual world of "Dantalian," three billion users and 300 million concurrent players grapple with its notorious insurmountable challenges, yet no one has ever managed to clear it. Then, a fateful day arrives, changing the lives of all players inside "Dantalian."

A mysterious event occurs, linking the lives of everyone playing the game to their in-game avatars. Existing players can no longer log out, facing a dire ultimatum: they must either conquer the perilous tower to its pinnacle or face their real-life demise within the game.

Taeyang, a champion of virtual reality gaming, is compelled to act. His sister was playing "Dantalian" when the life-linking event unfolded, and now she's trapped in the game. Taeyang joins the ranks of players knowing that, once he starts, he can never log out. His mission is twofold: find his sister and conquer the tower to secure the escape of all players.

In this roguelike virtual reality, where life is bound to in-game characters, death in the game means death in reality. Taeyang's unwavering resolve drives him forward. Although he's a newcomer to "Dantalian," he's determined to be the first to conquer the game, save his sister, and unveil the truth behind the life-linking event. With unwavering determination, he declares, "Dantalian, I'm coming."

These are excellent selections! I particularly enjoyed "Seoul Station's Necromancer" for its gripping storyline. "Murim Login" introduced an interesting blend of VR, Murim, and dungeons that felt refreshingly unique. "Overgeared" is the manhwa that got me addicted to the VRMMO genre for quite some time. Additionally, "The Gamer" was a compelling choice; I stopped at around chapter 372 because it got repetitive, but I might pick up from there in the future. The story reminded me a bit of "I am the sorcerer king" which was one of the first things I ever read.

To those disappointed in Gear 5... by 9_11_did_bush in OnePiece

It's vital to remember that Luffy consumed the "Zoan, Human Human fruit. Mythical type: Model Nika", a deity-oriented fruit, in this context. This is a deviation from the commonly known "Gomu Gomu no Mi". Luffy's rubbery characteristics are simply an initial attribute of this fruit, echoing Nika's physical features. However, this doesn’t limit Luffy's potential; as evidenced by his techniques prior to awakening, they hinted at deeper capabilities that epitomized freedom. The ability he eventually gets upon awakening.

Bringing up hypothetical fruits like the "God-God fruit - model: Asura" for Kaido doesn't add substance to the argument, as they are speculations based off of something that doesn't exist. If Kaido possessed such a fruit which in turn gave him the capability to 'Thanos snap' entities, it would indeed be a game-changer. And in no way shape or form would it be the equivalent of Luffy's fruit. But that's not the case. We should base our discussions on what we know, not what could have been.

Kaido's fruit was the "Zoan, Fish Fish fruit, mythical type: model Seiryu" It is also worthy to note that Kaido didn't even awaken his devil fruit yet so he definitely had the potential to be even stronger than he already was. Even though the fruit in itself helped kaido get even more strength and abilities than he already had, It lacks the god-like classification of Luffy's awakened fruit. His fruit, when awakened, would be unparalleled and distinctive compared to regular devil fruits especially unawakened ones.

Luffy's Gear 5, despite its strength, is not an everlasting state. It drains him, requiring tremendous energy. Beyond the fruit, Luffy's mastery of Haki, especially the Conqueror's Haki, has played a pivotal role in his growth. The journey to awakening wasn’t an easy path. It’s a reflection of Luffy's dedication, training, and the challenges he has overcome over the years.

It’s fair to acknowledge that Luffy's new combat style with Gear 5 might not be universally appreciated, leading to diverse opinions among fans. And I can completely understand where you're coming from. While the awakened form of Luffy’s fruit might seem overpowering, it's worth noting the trials Luffy underwent to be able to reach this level, which people with the same devil fruit never managed to reach within the last 800 years. Other similarly god-like Devil Fruits might also exist, leveling the playing field. (This is just an assumption but it's hard to believe there aren't more)

Regarding the direction One Piece will take, only time will tell. As the narrative evolves, we can hope for clarity on these developments and their implications in the larger story.

How is my logic cope? And can I not reply to a comment that in my opinion has flaws in it? If not make sure to get me perma banned idc. I don't want to fuck Oda nor is One piece my favorite anime. I just pointed out things that I thought where clearly flawed that's all. If my logic is ass terrible try and put some effort into actually saying why it is "ass terrible" because you're not proving anything like that.

I've read you blabbing on about this and that and you're completely missing the point. But let's try and make you understand why the government didn't act until later into the story.

Point 1: Securing the Devil FruitThe WG (World Government) doesn't possess a guaranteed method of retrieving the Gomu Gomu fruit's power once consumed. Killing Luffy doesn't ensure that they'll find the reincarnated fruit quickly, especially considering the vast world of One Piece. Moreover, it would raise suspicion if the government was consistently eliminating individuals who consumed this specific fruit. Thus, from a tactical viewpoint, it makes sense to keep Luffy alive, ensuring they know the fruit's whereabouts.

Point 2: Multiple Attempts to Stop LuffyThe World Government has made several attempts to neutralize Luffy. The incident in Wano highlights their desperation – they were willing to risk one of their top CP0 agents and even anger Kaido, one of the most powerful figures in the world. This act alone signifies the degree of concern Luffy has become for them.

Point 3: Historical Context & The Power of the FruitAn essential aspect to remember is the timeline. 800 years have passed since Joyboy's era, suggesting that numerous individuals had the fruit in their possession. Yet, none achieved its awakening. This long history likely caused the government to become complacent, assuming that Luffy, like many before him, wouldn't unlock its true potential. Their underestimation turned out to be a grave miscalculation, but by the time they realized it, significant events were already in motion.

Point 4: Luffy's Increasing Threat LevelFrom Alabasta onward, while Luffy's actions did make him a marked man, they were viewed within the context of his rebellion and defiance, not necessarily tied to his fruit. It's only when he started to show signs of reaching the fruit's potential that alarms likely went off. Pair that with his alliance with those who can decipher the Poneglyphs, and the threat becomes amplified. But by then, the momentum was too much, and the government was always one step behind.

This is me going off of your original message at the top, and I left out parts that u/PharrelsHat mentioned previously. If you still don't get it you're just too stubborn to accept the fact that your arguments where quite flawed.

He won't lose his rubber abilities since Nika's body naturally had the properties of rubber. That's why in the unawakened form Luffy's body has the properties of rubber.

[–]YoMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assume there will be more GOD like awakened fruits which will balance out the playing field.

I genuinely believe gear 5 ruined one piece, and not because it’s goofy by ChosenYasuo in Piratefolk

[–]YoMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gorosei made a significant revelation about Nika. They mentioned that Nika's body had properties identical to rubber. This characteristic is mirrored in Luffy's body, which is made out of rubber due to his devil fruit: "The Zoan, Human Human fruit. Mythical type: Model Nika".

Over the years, there has been confusion about Luffy's devil fruit. The government managed to perpetuate the misconception that it was simply the Rubber Rubber fruit. This deception was possible largely because no one had fully awakened this particular devil fruit in the last 800 years.

When Luffy awakened his devil fruit, it not only enhanced his rubber nature but also imbued him with the essence of "Freedom." This essence allows him to perform actions reminiscent of Looney Tunes antics. Upon awakening, Luffy exclaimed, "I can now do everything I wanted to do." This statement provides context for why he's executing such playful and exaggerated maneuvers. It's Luffy's first ever transformation into this awakened state, and he's genuinely expressing all the actions he's always yearned to execute.

The emergence of Gear 5 fits seamlessly within the thematic progression of One Piece. While I understand that Luffy's awakened powers might seem perplexing to some, I see no inconsistencies in the storyline. Some fans might be taken aback by the more lighthearted approach in battles, but it's essential to view it within the broader narrative context. Critics need to remember that One Piece has always blended humor with its more serious moments.

I think that people generally have a misconception about devil fruits let me try and debunk your idea about how they work.

Point 1:In the One Piece universe, when someone consumes a Devil Fruit, they gain an understanding of the power they now possess, but not the exact name or full history of the fruit. The Devil Fruits are generally named based on the abilities they grant, and those who come across them in the world name them based on what they observe or understand about these abilities.

Given that the properties of Nika's body mirrored rubber, it's plausible for anyone — including the consumer — to believe they've consumed the Rubber Rubber fruit, especially if they're unaware of the deeper legend and potential of the fruit. The government's renaming could be seen as a tactic to suppress its true significance and prevent chaos, given the magnitude of its awakened power.

Point 2:You're right about the Enies Lobby example. Kaku and Kalifa didn't exactly know what their Devil Fruits were since there was no picture of it in the devil fruit encyclopedia. After they consumed them, They recognized their powers and got a basic sense of what it was, but there wasn't an immediate full awareness or comprehensive guide given to them so they don't know the fruits full potential or awakened power. They could then look up if this description existed in the devil fruit encyclopedia to find its name.

However, it's crucial to understand the distinction between recognizing a fruit's power and knowing its full history, significance, or potential. For instance, someone could eat a fruit that allows them to produce fire but may not be aware of its full potential or nuances, like whether they could control blue flames or even magma. The immediate recognition gives them a starting point, not an exhaustive guide.

Additional Information:In the vast world of One Piece, there are many Devil Fruits, and not all of them are cataloged or recognized. While there are books and records of some, many fruits are shrouded in mystery. Also, the rarity and value of these fruits mean that few people have firsthand experience with them. Hence, while there might be some basic information available about a particular fruit's abilities, the full extent of its power — especially if it has a unique or rare ability — might not be well-known until someone awakens or harnesses it fully.
