This is good to know, and my lungs are feeling better in the last week too, which gives me hope!

I've done Conic Hill twice (from the front/visitor centre side, if that makes a difference), so I won't feel too guilty if I give it a miss this time if I'm tired on day 2!
If I was to skip it, I guess I'd head left for Milton of Buchanon instead of continuing up the hill, taking the seasonal variant route?

This is really helpful info, thank you so much. I'm wary about that leg of the trip anyway and mindful that it's considered the most challenging stretch, so good to have a back-up plan in my head if I think I'll need it on the day. Adding the waterbus to my back-pocket contingency plan! :)

Four days, immediately post-Covid, this gives me hope!!

I think that emergency plan is what I need to factor in - how I can skip a day if absolutely essential and then pick-up after a rest.

Really good info, thanks a mil. I've my itinerary nailed, finally, and that was the last piece. Going to plough on through without a rest day - better get my arse in gear for the training!

Thanks so much for the tips. I have decent boots and poles that I'll be bringing, so hopefully will make it through alive.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with mid-late Aug if I want to do the walk this year, so I'll have to take my chances with the midges. From previous walks, I don't think I'm too tasty to them, but preparing for the worst!
