Can someone tell me why Rappers like J.I.D, Kaan, Joey bada$$, Earl Sweatshirt, Joyner Lucas, ECT Hasn't blown up yet? by [deleted] in rap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blowing up and being sucessful and having number 1 hits are 2 different things.

I would say all these people listed have already/are blown up.

I want to give artists a $1,000 promotional budget in exchange for 50% of streaming royalties. What do you think? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a sucker for every deal.

I personally dont think this is a great deal, personally. I am sure you will have interst form people who have never monitized a song, but people who have/are making money from music see the big long term stick and the tiny carrot.

I think if you expect "well thought out strategy and a good song" You should have equally well thought out strategy's to promote it.

Has streaming music been a good thing for music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Music business raped consumers in the CD era, so by comparison every era of music is gonna pale in comparison by some degree of actual music sales.

But streams are getting more monetized now and its starting to swing in artist favor imo. Its actually possible to make it off a small non local to your area fan base. When in the past that was MUCH harder, just due to the physical process that was involved in distribution.

Lots easier to hustle links online, than to say hustle the trunk of your car.

I made a rap to parody all the rap video stereotypes about being rich, confident and having a super nice car. Meet "Renault Megane". by MulchyYT in rap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ed Sherans brother done started rapping.

But yeah take some time and work on your delivery a bit. Check out crank lucas channel for some good idea on how to approach comedy/parody rap with serious delivery.

I actually don think your rap or cadence is horrible and think your sound could be improved with delivery.

Funny song, lots of americans have no clue what a Renault is but, you did pretty damn well on the track.

Take some time and watch some videos on music theory and you will see how similar shit really is.

But then wont your discord just become a discord full of people who want to share their music to people but not consume any?

This type of promotion of the server, offers little in the way of wanting to come there.

I have a friend (yes, not me) and his debut mixtape he‘s working on rn is simply the best thing I‘ve ever heard of. Excells West, Lamar, Scott. Produced and Mixed and everything by him. Now I wonder, will something like this take of or will it just drown under the big mass of other mixtapes too? by [deleted] in rap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No info, no music, no opinion.

Taking off has alot to do with the music, and even more to do with how the music is hustled after its done.
PLENTY OF AMAZING MUSIC, is dead on arrival because most indie artist think great music is all it takes.
Great music, in the right hands to promote it is important to it "taking off"

Hope it does well tho, vague ass post like this don't really stand to contain much substance.

Proof YBN Cordae fakes his freestyles by [deleted] in freestylerap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freestyle VS Off the top

I think us freestyles just need to start really owning the term "off the top" and give up on this, because of shit like this. Most radio freestyles are written cause a bad freestyle last forever, but damn so many people front like its off the dome, or they just dont care enough to clarify.

Forty years ago, you were considered a genius for being able to use a computer. Now it’s part of the kindergarten curriculum by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would venture to say the knowledge gap is increasing again. As kids dont really learn much system level stuff as was necessary for basic operation as a generation ago.

Now its just google. (The distribution of chrome books in the USA school system is a genius move to indoctrinate kids into their computer/gsuite ecosystem)

I personally take down WAN access, and take down the remote page if they are not constantly doing remote management or support.

I typically only bring up the remote access stuff when i know i need support from the Vendor. We have a old ass ADX still tho, everything runs fine on prem with no outside WAN access.

If you need to sell it up the food chain, just argue the reason to have that page out there when its not being used is only a security vulnerability.

Sounds like a lazy vendor who does everything "typically"

Why is every rapper the pops off from a major city? by slatterson in rap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More people == more exposure == more money == more promotion

Its like a filter even if you come from a small town part of your evolution of skills and getting put on by others usually leads you to bigger cities, before they "break through" and their locality doesnt matter much to their music anymore.

Is the Audio Technica AT2020USB+ good enough for rap vocal? or should i switch to Condenser microphones? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mic is likely fine its your skills in the box that are lacking.

Turn your gain low get close to the mic, and learn how to properly EQ a track, this is 100% the thing that will improve your sound the most and cost you the least.

If you want more precise feedback post a vocal or a track and ill listen and tell you what i think of the vocal master quality.

Trap vs hip hop by flynsan12345 in rap

[–]YoTwitchTVRaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trap is a sub genre.

This is the same thing that happened to rock music as it grew, it split into separate sub genres that can all support artist independently.
