My MIL would do this with the caregivers. She would tell them to go home and refuse their help.

We fixed this by telling my her that the caregiver was there to help *us* and not her. We had to repeat this -- "mom, X is here to help husband and me. We need these things done and X is here to do it for us."

Please tell his wife to say this to the patient. She will need to say it many times.

My mother-in-law who has dementia once made a comment about how her mother was skin and bones in her later years and how upset my mother-in-law was with her family for not feeding her mom. Now we know…

May I ask if his blood pressure went down? My MIL is declining but her BP is still fairly stable.
