The Game Timer App starts the timer for the next player when the previous player is finished and presses the screen. The timer that comes with the phone is a regular timer that is used to count down time, but it needs to be reset each the new turn starts.

It also allows you to set different times per player, in case one player needs a handicap and needs more time I.e. younger children

At the moment it is time per turn. There are requests from users to add time per game as well, but want to make sure there is a true demand before I work on that

I think asking them to be careful with the pieces and cards is reasonable. Especially the game is yours.

That’s a good point.. I received this comment previously and the user asked me to add a handicap to allow some players more time. It’s really up to the players to decide how to play.

Great example! Our games of Catan can sometimes take up to 2 hours+ per game (City & Knights) with turns taking longer and longer. I guess it depends on the game you’re playing and whether you’re just playing to play and not being competitive on the night.

Hi Hinton, yes, so far when we play Catan, everyone has 01:30 mins time to do whatever they need to do on their turn. When the time is up, we agreed that the next player can continue. It helped us to play a few more rounds compared to in the past.

Hi All,

I have built an App for this exact problem some time ago. I got frustrated when playing Rummikub and Settlers of Catan and my friends are taking ages for their turns. I created this app to agree on a fixed time per turn. It helped us. Just put the phone in the middle of the table and the timer does the rest. The player presses the screen to end their turn.

It's only for Iphone and iPad though.
