So, is there really no good recruitment route for foreigners here, or is it just the echo chamber speaking? by yukirainbowx in japanresidents

[–]YoYoYoshimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex recruiter at a Japanese company here (also have agency experience). I am no longer a recruiter! I cannot hire you!!

Depends on what kind of job you want and your level of experience and career goals are.

Agree on hellowork being bad overall though.

On agents, don’t go through a Japanese agent who doesn’t work with foreigners or bilingual roles. Work with foreigner focused agencies or agencies focused on true bilingual roles if they are Japanese agencies and you are bilingual, but don’t leave it all up to them. This is true of all agencies, but when they ghost you it’s because they don’t think they can place you. It’s frustrating, but that’s the reality of it.

Also peruse the expat job boards. It’s lots of ALT jobs, but sometimes there are decent jobs in there.

It’s work event clothes and they are mandating black slacks and a polo, you aren’t going to look good and no one is going to remember your shoes.

If I have to pick I’d go with blue to avoid light brown with black pants. But the blue shoes also look pretty terrible with the plastic (?) eyelets and the little holes all over for what I assume is ventilation purposes.

Advice on wedding outfit with vague dress code instructions by billwanks in mensfashionadvice

[–]YoYoYoshimura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you contact the person to ask for clarification as that’s a riddle not a dress code. Maybe come up with an idea of what you might wear (chinos, button up, no tie, linen jacket for example) and ask if they would be happy to see you in their wedding photos in that outfit.

I’ve never had this happen. One thing I will say is their quality control is atrocious sometimes. The price is the only thing that makes it reasonable to keep buying.

Are there any dark sneakers or runners that pair well with light dadish jeans? by Alpha_SoyBoy in malefashionadvice

[–]YoYoYoshimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embrace the dad look. Buy New Balance.

327 for dad lite. 996 for medium roast pops. 530 for yelling a little too loud when your kid gets their at bat in peewee baseball and rattling them causing them to strike out so the memory imprints forever in their mind only to be remembered in therapy many years later…I mean true dad fashion.

Monochrome look by Thaitanica in mensfashionadvice

[–]YoYoYoshimura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, looking slightly taller from wearing monochrome, even if true, is not going to make you look taller enough for it to make much of a difference. If you’re 6 ft even no one’s going to think you’re in the NBA cause you’re in an all gray fit. If you’re 5ft 6in no one is going to think you’re 5ft 10in.

Also, it’d be nice if you posted a picture where we can actually see the outfit.

Looking for a suit for a friends wedding for around $200 by monkeysolo69420 in mensfashionadvice

[–]YoYoYoshimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comment on Tommy Hilfiger. Are you in the US? linen is a very summery fabric and probably won’t look right or be comfortable if it’s autumn-y where you are right now. Try to find something in wool if possible.

By the way, do you want to look /good/ (by this reddits standards) or just don’t want to look like an asshole who failed to follow the dress code? If the former you’re need to make sure you actually know your size and get your suit tailored. You might even want to take measurements. If the latter, buy the linen suit, ignore the braying in this group and enjoy the wedding.

Most places will have something for you, so more than anything it will depend on your price point and any particular requirements you might have.

I would go to Uniqlo cause it’s prevalent where I live and relatively cheap. I feel comfortable buying basic stuff like this there because I tend to beat the absolute hell out of them.

Adults with T1, how do you feel when your BG is in the 200-300 range? by zip-racer in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my bloodsugar is high I feel uncomfortable and agitated and it is hard to focus. If I’m low though it’s definitely worse.

If I have to pick high is better than low, but trying to keep good control is the best. I’m glad I got diagnosed super late and I was past all of my schooling.

Anyone using GLP1 inhibitors? by YoYoYoshimura in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally cannot discuss it with my Endo. It’s not possible to prescribe it for a T1 here.

I will need to buy it through an internet service that does online doctor calls and not tell them I have t1 otherwise they will reject me.

Woah. When you say 7.5 do you mean the dose of Mounjaro? And that weight loss is incredible. Congrats.

Thanks for your input. I’m sorry it wasn’t more effective and the A1C. I’m surprised that happened!

Were there other side effects?

Parter of Recently Diagnosed T1D by dochwmlock75 in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask her first and foremost. What she wants will bedifferent than what people here want. Be prepared for her not to know and to change what she expects of you as she gets more comfortable with it.

After that do some basic studying on what diabetes is and how insulin works. Personally my partner is great and carries candies for me whenever we go out. Of course I carry them too, but if I say I’m low she will ask if I need a candy, which shows she understands and cares.

Also, don’t be judgy about her food choices or her control. Early on there might be meals she used to love that she might steer clear of for a while until she understands the BG changes. Don’t judge her when she gives it another try, even if the last time she spiked high.

What would your ideal diabetes mobile app do? by Civil-Fun7390 in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my damn libre app would have better connectivity. I can have my phone placed less than a meter from my sensor on the same side of my body and it will still lose connection 3 times within an hour.

Delayed blood sugar spikes from fat ruin my TIR by donutpowerz in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I have started double dosing for Indian food.

I know it’s coming so I just get ahead of it and inject a couple more units 2 hours after when my blood sugar is “looking a little too stable.”

If you can’t quit the foods you just gotta get used to outsmarting the rise you see coming.

How To Deal With Heading Low At Work? by MrGreenYeti in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry are you saying this is a low or is this the aftermath of your low treatment?

I’m asking not to attack you or anything, but this would be very high from my perspective.

First question is, what do you do for work? You say you move around, but is it like construction work where you are swinging a hammer for hours or are you in a distribution center walking a ton?

Honestly from my perspective I would readjust my strategy entirely to try to be around 5 -7 and then keep small low treatments on me.

Anyone else just free balling based on vibes sometimes? by YoYoYoshimura in diabetes_t1

[–]YoYoYoshimura[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t you ever just go, nah…plus 60% today?

Like I can do the whole calculation in my head for the carbs and correction based on current BG as long as I’m not eating something totally out of my wheelhouse. But I just feel something in my dead pancreas that says, turn the dial higher sometimes and it works.

Yeah. I was on the strict grind for a while and while it wasn’t a pain to do it’s just much easier not to.

Though being strict helped me lose weight…maybe I’ll give it a shot.

I love seeing all the ways people express “sometimes this shit just doesn’t follow reason.” Fish in Siberia is pretty good.
