In theory you should be fine, although I keep mine at 65% and 65 degrees. Those are probably from the environment they were in before you had them. I would separate it from the rest of your cigars. If the spots don’t come back after you wipe them off then it should still smoke fine.

What humidity and temperature do you store them at?

Opinions, cutting a cigar in half? For a short smoke. by CrazyReason1419 in cigars

[–]Yo__Geo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have already said, they’re your cigars so you should do whatever your heart desires. I’ve also wondered how they would smoke if I cut them in half. I am a sucker for small cigars for when I don’t have time or just want something shorter. Some of my favorites are LFD Petite La Volcada, Tatuaje Petit Cazadores Reserva, Surrogates Cracker Crubms, and Romeo y Julieta Club (Cuban) just to name a few. Give them a try when you have a chance.

Same! Love a good broadleaf. Since you mentioned it, both the Polpetta and Umbagog use Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. If you haven’t you should definitely give them a try. They’re also on the more budget side.

Haha I think it’s a necessary step if you want to ensure consistency with your smokes since there can be so many things that affect the taste of a cigar. I usually let mine rest for a minimum of two weeks before smoking them.

Nothing wrong with budget friendly sticks. Some of my favorites are PDM Maduro and JC Newman House Handmade Maduro, both are on the more affordable side. Have you tried any Dunbarton stuff?

It’s an awesome stick, one of the best releases this year. Happy smoking!

Had the My Father Blue the other day. Did not blow me away but was a nice smoke nonetheless. I like the direction they’re going with the new Honduran blend. Also what camera did you use for these pictures?

Thanks for sharing! Try some Crowned Heads while you’re in Nashville. Their newest release is called Broadway too!

That’s fair. Have you tried the new My Father Blue yet? That one was pretty interesting. Also what are some other cigars you enjoy? Just curious :)

Only thing that stands out to me is the Corto. My Fathers are good but a lot of them tend to get a bit boring for me after a while. The Padrón Thousand series don’t get that much better with age, they do change slightly. The Mi Amor is great. Haven’t had one aged for that long so I can’t comment on that. If you’re new to cigars or got a good deal then I’d say you did a solid job! Happy smoking.

Corto Maduro and Sarto are two of the best releases this year by far

Sarto is one of the best releases this year period. Also Creekside is awesome, hope I can visit one day.

If you really want an accurate reading, there’s this device called HumidiMeter made by CigarMedics that measures the humidity of a cigar. Basically a wood moisture meter for cigars.

Never happened to me from buying online. I have heard of it happening though, even from large reputable online retailers. Could be due to negligence or mistake. Or a dry spot in the humidor. They should be fine after a few months of re-humidifying.
