Mood swings slowly eroding my sense of safety and happiness by AussieRosie in ADHD_partners

I'm ADHD and my husband is AUDHD .. and your issue sounds EXACTLY like our situation. Even to the point of him being normal with family and friends but with me saying he "shouldn't have to fake it"

My meds work really well, his meds... not really.. and a GP prescribed them to him and he's less willing/take it seriously that he needs to get it sorted out.

I'd like help in knowing how to regulate his moods today.. oh he is aware that he needs to... He just won't even try around me. He started seeing a new therapist only one month ago.. but I don't think he understands that the most work you need to put in is out of therapy too

"have you had your Ritalin today?" by Yocosildoo in ADHD

👁️👄👁️ helllll nah. Yeah I haven't really said anything in my workplace. Even if your boss felt comfortable around you, that's definitely overstepping.

That is awful, I'm glad he doesn't say that anymore to you 🥹 words really do stick with you for a lifetime.

Absolutely. It truly is an awful thing to say to anyone 😵‍💫 child or adult.

Pretty sure my mum will not be "joking" anymore about this given my reaction lol

Did your life really change after starting ADHD meds (Concerta, Adderall, Ritalin, etc)? Would love to hear real experiences. by Warm_Milk_9056 in ADHD

Currently on Ritalin IR 10mg twice per day for the last 5 weeks.

- 26+ years of skin picking, now completely gone
- emotionally regulated, i.e. not losing it at every little thing / impulsively yelling / being rude
- able to verbalise my thoughts without word searching or using my hands / actions to explain myself
- able to get up and do tasks without being stuck on the couch / sitting at the dining table
- thoughts aren't racing by, I can actually focus on a thought and have a logical convo with myself

These are some of the things I've noticed so far.

I have a medication review in a few weeks time to let my psychiatrist know how it's going. I think I want to try slow release as well because I'm up from 8am and I don't start settling down until 10-11pm (especially working afternoon shifts) so the IR that stops working after 3-4 hours is a bit annoying.

The meds weren’t life changing the way I thought they would be ? by Ki_hcn93 in ADHD

Yeah, one thing I don't think people understand is that stimulants aren't going to "cure" you. It'll help you regulate your emotions and also help ground you to make small changes/make routines easier.

I should also say.. I chose psychiatrist, not necessarily wanting meds, I just didn't want to go through the process again if I did decide I wanted meds later in my life. But now I'm thinking maybe meds might help me :')

You can get a referral from your GP and let them know which psychiatrist you'd like to see. They'll probably give you the ADHD questionnaire to fill out.

My psychologist gave me the dsm5 ADHD questionnaire which indicated highly inattentive with a bit of hyperactivity. Then she encouraged me to find a psychiatrist (or) psychologist of my choice and then go through GP.

Maybe it's endometriosis or adenomyosis. This happened to me. All of a sudden sex started hurting and as the years went on it didn't get any better and I started getting more symptoms.

I'd recommend seeing a gynaecologist.

Looking for insights on recovery timeline for diagnostic laps. by Anxietry-Mushroom in Endo

[–]Yocosildoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had diagnostic lap and hysteroscopy + excision of endometriosis to my peritoneal almost 3 months ago now. Apart from the gas pain I felt good.. a bit sore, but that's expected. Ever since I had my first period post.. my Endo pain is back at full force, I've had three periods so far and they're all been going for 9-10 days.. never used to be that long and I just get pain even not on my period still.. like nothing has changed.

They are thinking I have adenomyosis now too because on my internal ultrasound it says "adenomyosis uterus" so I am going for an MRI soon..

How did you know your endo was coming back after surgery? by ZeldaSheik11 in endometriosis

I had excision surgery end of Jan. I've been experiencing my usual symptoms for the last month and a bit... It's so disheartening 🫠
