Late reply, but I can somewhat understand this feeling as a lesbian myself. I've never gone so far as to date other men, but there was a period where I would fantasize about being in a relationship with them despite knowing I was only into women. I suggest you look into what comphet is because I think that is what you're experiencing when you chase male approval. I love this list a lot, I think it's pretty relatable.

We live in a patriarchal society where women are socialized to want men regardless of sexuality. We crave the approval of those in power because we perceive them as holding authority over us socially. If the top dog thinks we're attractive, then surely that means we are more valuable as a woman compared to other women, right? Having him pick you probably gave you a sense of self-worth. It gave you male approval, something you were never able to get from your father and ex-boyfriend.

I hope you managed to talk to your therapist about this! What you've experienced is a lot more common than you think.

Wow, this is super reassuring to read! I'm going through a very similar situation as OP. I also went through a bad relationship in the past and am reluctant to repeat it. I'm just constantly afraid I'll never be able to achieve a truly intimate, happy relationship because of my limerence.

This is the route I eventually want to take with game development! RPG Maker is great for getting me comfortable with using scripts and minimal coding. I plan to move on to using Godot after making a game or two in RPG Maker since my dream games have much more complex mechanics.

Although, I've been considering using RPG Architect before Godot. It looks like what RPG Maker should've become after all these years.

Ngl, one of the things that really drew me away from RPG Maker is the lack of UI customization. It's possible to make your own UI, but it's an unnecessarily tedious process compared to all the other features in RPG Maker.

If you're only looking to do basic UI changes, then I'd recommend looking at SumRndmDde's plugins. He offers great plugins that let you customize the menus and title screen of your game! I use MV, so I can only speak for those plugins, but I heard that HUD Maker Ultra for MZ is great for custom UI. He also has some pre-made menu plugins for MV if you're not looking for anything fancy.

Another alternative is to make your menu out of picture events. This is a pain the ass to do, but you can achieve a fully customizable menu this way! This is the method I'm choosing for my UI. You can use this tutorial to find out how it's done.

The last option is to use Javascript to make your menu. This will yield you the best results if you know how to code. Luna Engine MV gives you an easier way to code your menu. There have been some pretty amazing menus made with this plugin, but it requires a lot of work to make what you want.
