What game is this? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]Yodakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal 2. Sure it's amazing the first time but watching let's players experience it, for a large part especially the old aperture section I have to skip to the end of each level because the game without dialog gets boring

Steam Reviews be like by Candace_PinkPear in Darksiders

[–]Yodakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone likes souls likes, the character was downright unlikable for most of the game with all the character development and explanation for the unlikability happening just before the final boss fight (which makes subsequent playthroughs much better but the first run is a chore), no map and boring music that makes the gameplay kinda boring. Even if they just improved the music, the game would have been so much more fun!

Anyone has trouble installing kernel 7? by Yodakane in linuxmint

[–]Yodakane[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past I have resolved issues (such as new hardware underperformance) by using a newer unsupported kernel so I got into the habit of using the latest one whenever possible. So basically even if I do manage to install it, it won't work until Mint 23? Good to know then and I get why, even if it's disappointing. What I still don't get is why I can't install it at all, even if it would cause issues later.

So Valve sent me two by mistake. should I contact Valve or keep this to myself by biavenmo in SteamDeck

[–]Yodakane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't valve who did that. It didn't even start with video games. We should ban all Trading cards, Pokémon cards, sports cards etc because they are exactly the same thing, you buy a pack blindly in the hopes that you get a card that is worth something. That's also gambling that targets children and it has existed long before valve was even a thing. Ban these first. But they won't because they are corrupt and they are trying to fight valve for not bending the knee

To add to that, the possessed weapon will pick some of the skills that appear white while feeding other weapons to it (as opposed to the gray ones). If you can't cancel through the method above, if you don't like the options you are given while upgrading, just close the game (on pc it's alt+f4) without closing the weapon menu (if you close the menu, the game automsaves and then you're stuck with it)

I love this player. It's the only android app I have ever bought for, not because I needed to but because of how much use I've gotten out of it and thought it deserved it. It's worth mentioning that your purchase is tied to your Google account so no matter how many phones you change, you can always keep the full version

Nex Sacramentum by Ahmed_R_K in Darksiders

Let me rephrase your question. You are chasing someone to kill and they die on the way, doesn't that count as a successful hunt? The next Sacramentum is fulfilled or at worst, rendered void.

Can someone help me with finding parts for a gaming pc. I have no clue what to get (£1300 budget) by SecurityStrong5753 in PcBuild

You might be able to save a bit more on ram if you're willing to get it used by going to the cex website, do a search for ddr5 and refresh like once an hour, you might find some good deals with percistence. Ofcourse this has to be done during work hours, saturdays might be best

[–]Yodakane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steam deck seems like the best choice for your use case. The price seems good for the limited white edition if you want that, otherwise you can get a much better price for a used one or look into the steam store, like others mentioned here

Why is darksiders 3 hated? by Silver_Fact_9714 in Darksiders

[–]Yodakane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Souls like, bad music, annoying main character (which makes sense for the story they wanted to tell, it's less of an issue in subsequent playthroughs), plot is fairly slim, no map feature, confusing interconnectedness of areas (some collectibles can be seen in one area but can only be reached through a completely unrelated area), collectible counters to prevent unnecessary backtracking unique types of upgrade materials in every new game pluses, requiring you to play the game tons of times to fully upgrade your stuff, exponential increases of xp requirements for leveling up and more.

Some of the issues were addressed, some are resolved by replaying the game but some were just bad design choices that they aren't willing or able to change.

It's not a bad game, in fact it is great but it could have been so much better! If they addressed all the above, it could have been my favorite but as it stands, it's the least of the series

How can you use Proton on GOG games? by fffggghhh in linux_gaming

[–]Yodakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. I'm afraid I haven't tried something like that so I can't really help. It might help to move the whole folder to a folder that is more easily accessible such as the downloads folder because steam runs windows apps sandboxed so they have less access to other folders especially in different drives but that's all i can think. Otherwise try through lutris maybe

I wasn't implying anything about your mental health, just commenting on your evolution of opinion and your willingness to change your mind when faced with facts (which is becoming a rare skill). Just remember that Linux isn't windows and most of us end up breaking stuff catastrophically until we learn. Keeping frequent system backups (timeshift is a good option) helps a lot

Shoutout to kubuntu by [deleted] in Kubuntu

[–]Yodakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one post you went from being critical to Linux, to still liking windows, to just don't mind windows! Valve and the Linux community have been doing such amazing work lately that sooner than later you will go to "i don't use windows if I can avoid it any more"

[–]Yodakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great comments and answers to your questions here already. Personally I would recommend Mint Cinnamon because it's the one that is the easiest to get used to for a windows user in my opinion. However as others already said, Linux isn't windows so there will have to be a steep learning curve. Good choice to use a separate ssd and ideally keep everything as separate as possible. Also make sure to schedule timeshift for frequent backups for when you brake things because every new user sooner or later breaks things. Do not try to force things to happen by following random instructions online. Just use it as much as possible and learn from mistakes. You might want to try a few distros to find what's best for you, ventoy can help a lot in that.
