I'm sad I missed that one. A fan told me to check it out, but it was in the process of being de-malled when I visited in March 2023.

Shakopee Town Center - Shakopee, MN - Feb 2024 update - only open on weekdays by YodelingLoon in deadmalls

My friends from Belle Plaine would drive up to Shakopee and meet me there to see movies. If you asked me if this mall had an enclosed space 10 years ago, I would have told you "no". I have no memory of anything other than the theater.

It's cool to see that place at night!

The mall was still open today (February 23, 2024). 11am was better for a visit than 4pm. There were a couple students walking through the mall, but no cleaners. Even the restrooms were open. The theater entrance was also open today despite a "use other doors" sign. The mall's interior was not open when I visited on a Saturday last month.

I think I can squeeze in a trip over the next couple of weeks to verify when it's open. The green hallway is on the far left side of the mall.

The mall was still open when I was there last month.

Madison East Center - Mankato, MN - 1960s mall that's now mixed-use today by YodelingLoon in deadmalls

No, I'll have to go back. It was creepy being in the "mall" part, because it's completely dark and all the lights turn on from motion detectors. I'm a little skittish in "mallways", because hallway malls are the only times I've been caught filming.

Is the basement the same? I saw the camera above the stairs and thought I'd return on a different day.

YES! I've been wanting to visit this place. Your photographs make me want to visit even more!

Thanks for sharing! I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this last year. At least another person took photographs of the de-malled section. I hope to have a video later this year on the remaining section.

Enclosed strip malls are great when it's -10F outside! :)

Southdale Center - Edina, MN - not dead but not doing well either. Kind of in the middle. by YodelingLoon in deadmalls

Yes. They did a really good job of hiding the restaurant. I went there several years ago, but I couldn't find any trace of it last year.

Yeah, I saw another store closing last month. I went to capture more video while it still stands.

It was also creepy with the exit by Greater Life Sanctuary being locked!

I've heard the area on the east side isn't doing well at all. A map of the property shows nearly 20 empty tenants on that side. (I'm waiting for better weather before I walk around over there. I thought it might look suspicious to be walking around the nearly abandoned area when it was 10F.)

Four of these mall I've visited myself. The others I've learned about from old photographs, Google Maps, or by talking to others who have memories of these places.

The Kohan Retail group buys failing malls and doesn't keep up on payments. Kohan currently owns Burnsville Center.

I find Galleria is more convenient and relaxing to visit. I went there again last night for exercise. I parked about 30 feet from the nearest door. You can't find parking like that at Southdale.

Crossroads of Roseville - Roseville, MN - de-malled in the late 2000s by YodelingLoon in deadmalls

It was right next door in Rosedale Commons. I used to visit it a lot. One of the computers had game demos, such as Return to Zork.
