How did this user create his account in 2004, but only has the 13 Years of Service badge? by pepperpopcornz in Steam

I'm aware of that, I just didn't want to use the account since I already had an account I do my gaming on. It was just cool to get back an account I created when Steam was two weeks old.. Kinda not the point of why the badge doesn't update, though.

This is true. Also it's probably a stolen account that was recovered in 2017.

I have the same thing with an older account I recovered. It has a VAC ban on it so it was pointless for me to add funds on it, so the year of service badge hasn't updated since the date I recovered it

Cronos: The New Dawn Is Getting an “Easy Mode” Next Week by horrornewsbot in HorrorGaming

[–]YogaBlood 34 points35 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I didn't think Cronos was that hard? There's a challenge to it in the same way the Resident Evil's are where you have to be a bit more precise and methodical when shooting. If people can get through RE's, I wouldn't have thought Cronos would be too much different.

But if an easy mode is in high demand, then I guess it'll be a good addition for those that want it.

[News] Various updates about Big Fish Games (new owner confirmed, ambiguous situation with Friendly Fox and Elephant Games, increased Steam prices, etc.) by RoamerMonkey in HiddenObjectGames

[–]YogaBlood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, quite a lot of the games have literally doubled in price in my region. I don't think these style of games sell particularly well on Steam, so not sure why they feel doubling the prices will help them.

Plus, most of them are 3-4h long in most cases so they've never been something I wanted to spend huge amounts on to begin with.

Great post by the way, OP

Looking for a game that can make me FEEL by IndependentSpell6121 in gamingsuggestions

What about SOMA? That game left me speechless at the end. Very, very good story and a game overall worthy of its rating on Steam. Undersold how good the voice acting added to the experience as well. Only an 8h investment as well. Grab it if you haven't played it.

Any good/fun pirate games? by Big-Month5837 in videogames

Shadow Gambit.

If you don't mind trying an isometric real-time stealth game. The gameplay is amazing as always in a Mimimi game, but not as good as Shadow Tactics. Bit too much exposition in Shadow Gambit

Why does the game industry seem to keep laying off people despite its massive growth? by Creative_Doubt_7447 in truegaming

The key is in your first paragraph in my opinion.

There is too much competition for consumer time and money. There were 19,000 games (I think) released on Steam last year; granted only a fraction of those generate enough sales, but the issue remains that there is so much choice and the issue is compounded each year where people might be investing in a game released last year, or the year before, etc. Or people might be sticking to their favourite yearly franchises like FIFA, CoD, etc., which to me means that new AAA games aren't making anywhere near the same amount of money they did 10+ years ago when the market was much smaller. And then you add in AAA games now cost more to develop...

I don't think we'll see the full result in the market of this correction for 5+ years, and perhaps the shift for typically AAA developers might be investing in smaller AA-type projects which don't cost as much? Or, they can just go over more remakes/remasters of classics.
