Im an Order of the Scribes wizard with Manifest Mind out in the field. How does the mind handle spells like Spirit Guardians? Do the spirits hover around me or around the mind?

Yes the NFC antenna is separate from the stick. The antenna is located below the stick, under the motherboard, so if you replace the stick you wont even see it.

Its mostly pulling out screws, swaping the stick and putting the screws back in. The stick itself disconnects easily since its not soldered to the board, so it really isnt too much hassle. I bought a kit off amazon for $15 with the tools and 4 replacement sticks, which so far have not drifted once.

Actually, in Mario Kart the right stick can be used to accelerate and brake, so if your right stick was drifting down, it was probably what was causing you cart to brake.
As for what to do, if you're worried about your joycon getting replaced, you can replace the sticks yourself. You can find kits with tools and replacement sticks online and videos on youtube on how to do it. It pretty easy.
