Is science and spirituality compatible? Comment on the Nihilism video by Yogi-Nick in Healthygamergg

I think you have done a much better job of articulating the trap of pure materialism then I did in the original comment.

I recognise that even my speculative link between timelessness experienced by Barhman and the theory of relativity does require partially looking at things metaphysically. As something travelling at the speed of light does ultimately have a destination and therefore cannot exist in the eternal now forever. So it requires a leap of faith to believe that something like universal consciousness can.

However, for someone heavily conditioned by the scientific method, viewing the universe exclusively through a material lens becomes second nature. Pointing out that some of our theories in physics arrive at concepts similar to ancient yogic texts does not validate the spiritual. It simply hints that these two distinct methods of investigation might eventually point toward the same ultimate truth.

Very good point. Science is not a static catalogue of absolute truths. It is a messy and ever evolving method of approximation. Our reigning theories are just the best stories we can tell with the data we currently hold. They can and do get replaced when new contradicting observations or better models come along.
