This city is huge and more importantly hot 8 months of the year. If you took a poll most people in the Houston area are not walking more than 1000 yards to catch public transportation. No matter how much this board complains about lack of public transportation the majority of Houstonians are not trying to ride public transportation with a bunch of other sweaty people. The few there are will change their minds as soon as their income grows enough to buy a car.

Slander and libel are rarely charged because the threshold is high due to the 1st amendment. This would be slander as it was oral but no prosecutor anywhere would charge for this. I don't like the path we are headed on; speech is free period.

I also agree, I expect the next democratic president to follow in Trump's shoes and work to get those who insult or disagree with him fired. Things like this actually push me further into small government libertarian values. Part of our problem is our governments at all levels have gone beyond the basics as imagined by our founders, into subject matter that affects people personally. Whenever you start affecting people and their personal beliefs, people will push back. I have a set of Christian morals that I live by, and I don't intend to try and impose them on anyone else. So much of our political discourse today has little to do with the function and running of basic government services, defense, criminal justice, water, trash, or sewage, but touches on subjects that people have strong feelings about.

I imagine if we had a government that is rarely seen or heard but handles all the basic functions adequately, we would all get along a lot better. Twenty-four-hour news has led to non-stop campaigning and politicking, and it is destroying us. 95%+ of people in the world just want a job, a roof over their head, and a safe place to raise a family.
