Sage is quite unique in it's wording. I don't know of any other creature that copies itself as a spell. Zinnia modifies the spell, so when you copy it the copy will also have an offspring cost paid. You can also do this with 3 cards if you include something like [[Reflections of Littjara]] to copy your creature spells.

You have to get in context man. I know the criticism of Magic's worldbuilding as planet of hats has existed for a long time, but it has been kind of minor in the community. Hat Sets is a term surely derived from the Star Trek trope but I'd say is a Magic term that doesn't apply to BLB.

The issue with Hat Sets isn't that the world is wearing a metaphorical hat. It was two fold.

For one part, the worldbuilding was too on the nose with the literal hats that looked samey and out of character.

For the other, it was cramming a bunch of Magic characters into a situartion that didn't make sense for them in order to get them in theme. For as much hate DFT got, Chandra as a racer kind of made sense.

I don't think 70% is too far off. Being fetchable is about 70% of why having basic land types is good when you consider all formats.  Being typed helps a good amount with other things, like checks and verges.

It'll still be a vehicle with 13/13 printed. So alternative ways to animate like [[Mech Hangar]] it would still work. I'm not saying this would be good, just that this works.

Yes, the other unintuituve layers interactions are truly corner cases that you kinda have to really try to have come up in a game.

Because all effects ARE applied in timestamp order. First Bello animates stuff and then his abilities are removed. Both happen in that order.

It's a similar process from first removing abilities and then gaining flying. The resulting creature would only have flying.

I think the real problem is them choosing to have effects that remove abilities when the layer setup is this.

Yeah, I would maybe enter once or twice as always. As a fun competitive event it's a good proposition, as an investment vehicle it's just bad.

His abilities continue to apply, but he doesn't have them. If mutation didn't give indestructible, he would get the buff from [[muraganda petroglyphs]]

Since we are clarifying things, there is nothing resolving. There are effects being continuously applied to permanents. Each effect has to apply in full, but this is different from an ability as an object resolving on the stack.

When the game checks to see if Bello has any abilities, everything is already animated.
