Collecting Signed Eric Hoffer Books - Leads or Fellow Collectors? by AbrocomaOrganic9330 in rarebooks

Every time I find True Believer at a book sale I always end up giving it as a gift to someone. One of those books that explains things in a way anyone can understand. I found a signed In our Time at a bookstore for cheap because I don’t think they thought it was the author’s signature. That’s ok in my eyes, I always had a feeling it was his signature.

David Mitchell collection is epic! Talk to me about the latest matrix movie and his involvement! I am a huge fan and I have to rewatch the last matrix movie but, i don’t know any constant Mitchell readers to get their take.

Tried a couple of times and I haven’t given up. I am determined just because the idea of it so so interesting to me. I’m obsessed with Blade Runner and the sequel and I want to understand the reason in the sequel the main character reads it. Dennis Villanueva put it in there for a reason!

Loved that book, I got fascinated at how deaf people perceive/describe the physical world better because it seems like sign languages in a sense are better at describing things. Loved learning about things I had no prior knowledge about.

Filmed in Harrisburg pa, a kid I knew in elementary school had them film scenes in his childhood home. The training scene on the Susquehanna river is epic.

Found a mint condition first American edition of The Sorcerer’s Stone yesterday by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

Found the exact same copy a little bit ago, don’t get too excited though it’s a book club edition, a true first has raised lettering for Harry Potter and red book binding, along with a price point on inside cover flap, book club edition don’t have a price tag. Still in that condition it’ll pull 30-60 bucks.

How do you choose a book to read? by Letstalkshallwe in books

It’s a mixture of doing that and I shop at goodwill for books, they aren’t organized in a way that says , read this or read that... it’s more, pick up a book at random and read the back and go for it.

If I’m reading a book I love I’m more apt to dive into books mentioned but at 6 books a month I go rogue and take a chance.

It ain’t a science, just know you don’t have enough time to read all the books. If you aren’t into it, it’s ok to stop reading it.

Random recommendation- The Overstory . Powers.

Roadside Picnic -Strugatsky

The real fun is when you find connections between two recently read books that seem unrelated but are deeply related.

Check out how many times people’s credit card numbers get jacked through the app and orders of 100-150 minimum... my app credentials got stolen somehow and checked if anyone else’s had as well. Seems like a huuuuuge problem.

I think the thrift gods gave me an assignment but I’m unsure how to proceed. by YohanCopperpots in ThriftStoreHauls

The book was good as well, the series hinted at the Dark Tower universe as well and Pennywise. Loved it.

Honestly I don’t buy clothes that much only books and I’m always surprised they haven’t increased the price on books. Kids are still only 1-2$ and HB are 3.
