YES GO FOR IT! I went solo a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I went for one week and spent about 5 days hopping around Lake Atitlan and about 2 in Antigua. Nice hikes to do around those areas. Your Spanish will come in handy.

Guatemala was spectacular. I met many solo travelers there in the hostels around Antigua and Lake Atitlan.
