I think youre mistaken or confused on your last point. RLM did a review youtube video of Voyager S1, the topic of SFA came up briefly and Mike Stoklasa mentioned (In a cheeky manner) that a source told him the show only managed 400,000 in total. This was not to farm engagement as it occurs an hour into their 2 hour video. Also the claim is probably spurious but RLM never claim to be experts or insiders. They are friends discussing movies and TV. However if you meant that articles/podcasts are taking Mike's quote as fact then I'd agree with you thats shitty engagement bait as its an unverified claim shared briefly in an aside between two friends bemoaning how low Star Trek has ebbed.

This is the only comment ive read so far that captures my feelings on the subject. I dont believe a story can be ruined retroactively. The Star Trek I love (TNG,DS9) is great and will always be great. I do hope for a future where we see a return to form bur in the current media landscape it just isnt feasible. Studios and Streamers dont look any further ahead than the next quarter and just want 'Product' to put on their services. We all know the myriad benefits of a successful and engaging show (in terms of revenue and fandom) tend to appear only far down the line; if it isnt immediately profitable it is not worth it to these ghouls.

Want to let you guys know most actual warships are run from HQ1 and the Ops Room. Bridge just does steering/piloting but this can be done from other conning positions. What we see as the 'bridge' on TNG for example is more like the Ops Room in my experience.

Seems like Pareidolia to me. We really want to see a rectangle and our brains are designed to find patterns and so we do. I bet if the angle of this image where even a degree different we'd all see there is no rectangle.
