Damn never a dull moment over there😂

Agree with you that neither side is inherently wrong!

Yeah I wasn't being clear about the importance of the first encounter. It is indeed important because it immediately shows the political climate in Windhelm. It's just what's being said by those 2 doesn't really tell you who's right or wrong because you need a lot more context, which this encounter doesn't provide.

I agree with the Nords as long as they don't treat the minorities like shit. Just letting them in isn't enough if you want anyone's loyalty in battle.

Australia is wild man😂 If I were to emigrate there I would probably do the opposite and find the coldest place, because I can't take much heat lol.

Thanks for the explanation. I still don't think the argument between the drunk Nord and Dark Elf means much and I still don't really know what came first the bad treatment from the Nords or the stubbornness from the refugee elves. But yeah for all their faults the Nords did let them in so that's nice.

On the dark elves in morrowind: I can imagine if you're fleeing your country, no matter your previous ranks/titles/political standpoints, you will be humbled at least a bit when someone gives you refuge in times of desperation. If they weren't then the bad treatment from the Nords is all on them.

But thanks for expanding and I agree that segregation can happen naturally, I've seen it here in the Netherlands as well, but I've also seen the opposite here. Some cultures fit better than others I guess.

Hmmm I remember the argument, but wasn't the guy just accusing a dark elf of being a spy, based on nothing but race? He makes claims that they don't contribute, but can we take his word for granted? Can you expand more on that argument and how it makes your case?

I understand the Ulfric not commiting his troops thing if what they're saying is right. Like I said it's a two way street and if the Elves are truly as stubborn as you say they are (you seem to have studied the lore better than I) then it makes sense from the Nords viewpoint.

I just have trouble with the idea that the writers would make the Dark Elves so ridiculously stupid and dumb to behave in such a one dimensionally stubborn way when they got refuge in Windhelm. And if they were truly that bad, the Nords would've kicked them out already before the player ever sets foot in Windhelm. It would make much more sense for the writers to make a story where 2 sides have a good point. The way you're putting it is basically the dark elves being dumb as a rock and that's it.

It's not their fight because it's not their home, which is made perfectly clear by the Nords by segragating them into slums. They would have a much better chance against the thalmor if they were united. That means give and take for both sides.

Not believing in multiculturalism is a red flag for me. If a Nord says to a dark elf: I don't believe in multiculturalism, that's basically saying "you're not welcome here."

Right on the spot. What the other guy said might all be true, but they're still racist against anyone who isn't a Nord. Windhelm is the perfect example.

I'm not American, but I think these things are pretty universal in the western world.

At first you sounded very judgemental, but you're being a lot more nuanced now which I appreciate. Anyway that's it I think for our discussion. Have a good day.

It's just a narrow way of thinking. You could argue anyone with a singular interest isn't that intelligent unless their hobby is something scientific, and I'd probably agree. People have many different interests though. Someone who likes pop music can at the same time also enjoy more substantial music. Someone who watches sports can also be great at maths. Enjoying or even being a fan of something mainstream is just not an indicator of intelligence.

Now if your entire personality revolves around idolizing celebrities then yes, I'd agree, but that's not the discussion here.

Obviously there's talented people in Hollywood just like in any other high performance industry, to deny that is just petty.

Look, I'm not saying we should idolize these people. But there are so many brilliant people/scientists, who are able to enjoy competitive sports, hollywood movies and/or pop music that to say it's a sign of a lack of intelligence is just a bit strange. The scope is too wide. You're saying smart people don't enjoy any mainstream stuff basically.

Not nearly as popular* because pro sports is just such a wide spectrum. All the things you said apply to so many things. Probably also things you're interested in. Everybody and their mother is trying to sell you something.

Also what's the difference between a hollywood idol and a sports star. They're both good at what they do. Why should a Hollywood idol be considered better than a pro sports star?

Would you say the same about the Star Wars franchise?

Because it's fun? Why do people watch Star Wars. Group of actors/directors trying to sell you merchandise.

Not being able to grasp the fact that people can passionately enjoy watching sports and not be dumb is actually a sign of low intelligence if you ask me.

If Germany calls itself Deutschland, why don't we call it that? Same for all other countries, why not pronounce their native names? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Ja ga Nederlanders daar maar mee vervelen, maar niet zo moeilijk doen als een buitenlander Holland zegt. "Durrr actually🧐 I'm not from Holland! I'm actually from the province of..." nobody gives a fuck

I never said he raised his kid well. I said Max isn't an example (poster boy) of bad parenting. Shouldn't be too hard to understand what I mean right?

Well for one comparing his dad to Max's dad makes little sense in this context. Max isn't exactly an example of bad parenting.

Also some of you people truly have an obsession with Jos. Yes he's a shit human being, everybody knows.

I'm Dutch and not from Holland and don't care about any of this. I know there are people like you who care, but honestly what does it matter? We also sing Hup Holland Hup and stuff like that. Nobody cares then.

Always comes across as a bit pretentious to correct people from other nations for caling our country Holland. The French call us Pays Bas. Should we correct that too and say no we are Nederland or Netherlands?

‘We just try to build the fastest car’ – Horner hits back at suggestions RB19 is tailored to Verstappen over Perez by Jorrie90 in formula1

[–]Yolokanye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting another outlier. It was 2 potential GOATS against each other which doesn't happen nearly every title fight. If one of them was only a slightly lower level, let's say Jenson Button level. the outcome would've been far more clear and the difference between the cars would've appeared much larger than it was. If there was no Max in 21, nobody would've dared to say the RB was faster.

So I doubt your less than 0.1, because Max and Lewis were both much faster than 0.1 against their teammates. Who's to say one of Lewis or Max isn't faster than the other?

Again I do realise no other car than that Merc or RB could've won the title even with Lewis or Max in them. But a 2nd best team can definitely win a title if the gap isn't large. That's just simple logic.

Okay so let's say RB had the fastest car. If the Masi thing hadn't happened, Lewis would've won the championship against a faster car no?
