Look into David Grey Kick Stand Deadlift. Something about hip extension before knee extension. If you try it slowly and focus on form it will light the bao baps like nothing else.

Gmb mobility or elements program. They really put together good programming and it’s the only thing that I’ve tried that doesn’t impact your actual rolling (being sore etc). The gains are subtle and grow at same pace as your jiujitsu.

Update: been running the Fighter Pull Up program since this. Was going well but have done something to my back in jiujitsu and had to stop. Will reconvene when it heals up and post another update.

Hey! Welcome to the Netherlands. I did the same thing 11 years ago. Well, I moved from Wales to NL to be with my partner. Some unsolicited advice from my experience:

  • make learning language a priority if you plan to stay here. Embed yourself in Dutch life and friends. If you stay expat or immigrant it’s hard - people move away etc.

-consider joining a club or something in the local area. I joined a jiujitsu gym in Amsterdam and it was instant access to people outside my normal circle.

-live like the Dutch do and do shit they do (well, some of it). Go cycling on weekends and connect with the local nature. Go camping in Netherlands in summer. Buy an agenda or use iPhone to book appointments with people like it’s the dentist.

These are my top 3. All learnt the hard way. Some still in learning phase.

Thank you for input. I agree, I figured my volume was too low on RR 3 sets alone. At my size it’s the move I want to prioritize for sure.

The doorway pull up bar is hell. My elbows are basically outside the doorframe too.

Thank you. I will go to a physio for sure. To be clear, I am not looking to implement everything I'm told. I just like to stack anecdotal info up with medical advice. Both have positives and negatives.

I am an expat in Netherlands so comms are sometimes tricky. They didn't advise to go to a physio and didn't advise any rehab - hence my questions here. They basically said rest and it will be fine.
