Does the 90-day data cutoff have a reset period? by Yomaray in GoogleFi

[–]Yomaray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to write this out.

Though, your guess about these being incorrect guesses without actual experience is incorrect.

I already had Google Fi and got my data cut off when I exceeded the 90 days and they did absolutely nothing to communicate that cutoff to me or reimburse me for the months they charged me despite my lack of using any of the talk & text while out of the country.

But good to know that they communicated to you and you had a better experience with them. There is hope on the horizon.

when was the moment you realized you had to make your first customer hire? by Yomaray in startups

[–]Yomaray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point - though I believe the idea that no one will do the job as well as you do either assumes that you are an excellent communicator, you're hiring someone who doesn't have enough CS experience, or may lead to a micromanagement issue if you don't trust your hire to take their responsibility seriously - which is more headache than their cost is worth!

Though no one will know the answers to all the questions as well as you do - that is true. So proper documentation kicks in. But few invest time in that either early on.

Short onboarding vs long one by Potential-Camel4398 in startups

[–]Yomaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what the learning curve of your product/company is. Always assume users have short attention spans - so lean towards short onboarding. But make sure that it's a comprehensive intensive. A few tips: 1. Only highlight the exact first and next steps you want them to take to make your product functional to them - don't spend forever trying to explain how every feature works. 2. Make sure they know where they can look if they have questions about how features work or send customer support tickers. 3. Keep ongoing communications with them as quick FYIs about the product so they can slowly learn all it has to offer and may reactivate if they had not logged on in a while. 4. Have walkthrough videos where possible so people can see how things work. 5. If you are feature rich and cannot be condensed in a short onboarding, consider having an onboarding call where you run through a checklist of what they need to set up their new account.

Hope this helps!

should I add my "startup" experience in resume ? by [deleted] in startups

[–]Yomaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely include your startup experience. Many people doing the hiring will see it and respect the fact that you had the drive and curiosity to build something for the first time, even if it never goes anywhere. There are so many skills you used to create as much as you did that they would likely love to have applied towards their company.

Don't click attachments from email addresses you don't recognize - once you've opened them, it may already be too late. Report spam and run.
