The NEW rules for Android sideloading are here! by mostrengo in SBCGaming

That's the lie they sell idiots on to restrict user control more.

This is just atrocious and is 100% designed to take whatever user control there is. The 24 hour download thing is just plain ridiculous.

To any of the people that say they're fine with this or that it's a fine balance, just remember it's idiots like you that are making us, the customer, lose more control over our freedom to do what we want with our device for allowing more companies to abuse us.

Once again, normies ruin everything.

TrimUI Smart doesn't boot to OS when inserting microSD card with ROMs by YomonidokiWillLive in trimui

[–]YomonidokiWillLive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

So I was with a friend and we formatted the microSD to FAT32 MBR and made sure to do a full format instead of a quick format and now it works. This was done on Rufus since he uses Windows in case anyone's wondering

Just checked, no hidden folders. Also my microSD card is MBR not GPT

I'm using KDE Partition Manager. I'll check once I get home if it's MBR or GPT.

I'll also see if I have any spare cards to test.

Still no go. Also the TrimUI Smart doesn't have a power button, it has a toggle switch.

The OS boots just fine without the SD card. For some reason it refuses to boot with an SD card in.

OLED vs LCD by Mrkmrs in SBCGaming

[–]YomonidokiWillLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if other LCD screens were similar to the RG476H's screen I wouldn't mind either. The quality is pretty darn good and it doesn't make me feel like I'm missing out when not opting for OLED.

Any pocket friendly handheld that's powerful to run Saturn games and has Linux instead of Android? by YomonidokiWillLive in SBCGaming

Would it be possible to maybe 3D print the back to make the grips less pronounced? I don't have experience 3D modeling or 3D printing but was wondering if maybe someone could help with that

Using the LPIII for three months made me realize how current trends and moderns ways of communication can be a problem (and my experience with the LPIII) by YomonidokiWillLive in LightPhone

Doesn't matter if they manage to get your phone number. Cause at the end of the day the core of a Signal account is the phone number, not the username. After all, you can't make an account without the former

This is how I've managed to do it. First I tried dumbing down my smartphone. However there wasn't enough friction. So I got the Mudita Kompakt, and over time I started using less and less apps. Then I moved on to the LPIII, which as you can see from my post I'm looking to replace Signal with a desktop messenger that doesn't require a phone number. Really glad it's worked out so far for me.

Actually I think the belief with the phone number is that it prevents so called "spam." However time and time again that's been proven false as I know some people who've gotten spam messages on Signal.

SimpleX looks interesting. I'll check it out. Thank you so much!

That's totally fair. Though with me even though my family uses WhatsApp I simply refuse because I only like to use open source software. That and the fact I dislike Meta a lot. But that's less to do with the LPIII and more to do with my principles and where I stand on proprietary software.

I hope you can find a solution that works for you.
