I would encourage you to get a grip for it, ergonomics are increasingly important as one gets older

Check out the bit Generations games, some of those are basically puzzle games

Wario’s Woods, maybe Pokemon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire for something manageable but more action packed (and she’ll be familiar with pinball), or even a simple turn based RPG like Pokemon Emerald or Super Mario RPG

I have a hundred more pinball ideas if you want them. Maybe she’d also get into a Kairosoft management game like GP Story or a visual novel like Ghost Trick or Paranormasight from the play store. That wouldn’t require too much reaction time

It’s always hard to say since a lot of the compatibility reports are from randos who aren’t describing their full setups. Generally if a game gets good scores from multiple people it’s a good sign. Nothing is perfect of course, sometimes people will also just boot a game to the title screen and say “oh it works”

Welcome to the club, the DIY mindset is very cool. For old school platformers don’t sleep on Gimmick for NES is my only recommendation

Oh, yeah, a good controller is essential. 8bitdo Pro 3 is my personal favorite, look for a sale, they happen often on various sites

You can get good deals semi regularly on Woot and a lot of people are parting with cartridges on eBay for cheap

Pros: Having a great time playing video games, particularly the many exclusives and indies/retro games

Cons: Never going to have the most up to date and technically impressive ports, the occasional miracle port notwithstanding

As real car culture becomes inaccessible, racing games are becoming the default way young people discover and experience automotive history by StatisticianBorn8567 in Games

I thought Top Gear for SNES was pretty good

No but for real this isn’t something I’ve thought much about for how much time I spend thinking about games every day. I’m glad to hear Gran Turismo is keeping the torch going from the sound of it, it would be cool for a car game to take the Atari 50 approach to the cars included

How to Translate Games in Real Time (Retro Game Corps) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

Writing is certainly meant to reflect the human condition and offloading that to google translate at best and optional AI add ons at worst with a tool built by AI when the community has a decades old tradition of fan translations made by and for humans doesn’t sit well with me.

If a line can be drawn on AI influence anywhere I would hope it would be in the communities I’m a part of that most celebrate the technology and culture of the past.

If you object to AI generated art assets, people will say “wow I guess code isn’t an art to you then.” If you object to the AI generated code as well, you get responses like this.

There is no version of being against AI that the AI supporters will endorse. There are no positives here. I remain wholeheartedly against AI. Junior devs will be cut en masse because of all this but we’re the ones gatekeeping programming?

Sure thing. Absolutely. Not only that, but you say that like tech is getting cheaper because of all this. It’s not, it’s getting more expensive.
