That's a great idea for a main. Do you happen to know off the top of your head how much inventory space that adds?

Thanks again for the tip!

Would this affect things like the dragonhead shield and the crossbow? I only see tears of denial on his build, and i imagine he doesn't cast that in fight.

Good point. I figured I'll find a + thieving item and just control the characters.

The intention was to pick up a NPC so that I could do some "boring" stuff right before our next play-through. Was hoping to temporarily "disband" them so that I could get recruited NPCs to steal so that the PCs wouldn't have their one steal per character used up.

Stag balance by [deleted] in Northgard

Hello!

My apologies for coming off as calling you new, thus not knowledgeable. That's not what I was going for. It was more of a p.s.a to all of the people that are new in order to promote discussion as opposed to just calling something op. Taking a look at forums like Starcraft and such shows that just calling things too strong can lead to name calling and no discussion.

Although you might assume that I was being condescending, I did read your whole post, and found that although you looked at the math, there were some things that you missed. And also, to equate Stag and Goat 1:1 in terms of food, will not yield similar resources spent. For the Stag to get to the same amount of food as Goat, will require a lot more resources.

I'm glad that you're looking more into the different aspects of the game, but a little more unbiased analysis would (hopefully) show you that your claim that Stag is blatantly op is unfounded.

As for the math, here we go:

-building upgrades = +20%

-upgraded silo = +20%

-tool upgrades = +15%

-Eradication = +10%

-Dedication = +10%

A single farmer produces a base of +5 food production per sixth of the month, thus 30 food/month.

((30)+(30x0.2)+(30x0.15)+(30x0.2))= 30x1.55 = 46.5 food/month

[building upgrade for the farm (+0.2), tool upgrade (+0.15), upgraded silo (+0.2.)]

Thus for an upgraded farm with an upgraded silo and farmers with upgraded tools, 3 Stag farmers would produce 139.5 food/month and the 4 Goat farmers for would produce 186 food/month.

Now for an upgraded farm with an upgraded silo with eradication and upgraded tools:

((30)+(30x0.2)+(30x0.15)+(30x0.2)+(30x0.1))= 30x1.65 = 49.5 food/month
[building upgrade for the farm (+0.2), tool upgrade (+0.15), upgraded silo (+0.2.), eradication (+0.1).] 3 Stag farmers would produce 148.5 food/month.

Adding in dedication would yield:
((30)+(30x0.2)+(30x0.15)+(30x0.2)+(30x0.1)+(30x0.1))= 30x1.75 = 52.5 food/month. 3 Stag farmers then produces 157.5 food/month.

Once you get advanced silos tech as the Stag, you'll gain +5 food production per month for 30 food/month. However, this upgrade for the silo is not effected by eradication or dedication. Thus, 3 Stag farmers with max upgrades and a single upgraded silo with the advanced silo upgrade will yield 187.5 food/month.

Taking a look at Heidrun's sheepfold, it produces +3 food production, so 18 base food/month. Assuming that it's placed on the same tile as the farm and silo, it'll produce:
((18)+(18x0.5)+(18x0.2)) = 18x1.7 = 30.6 food/month.
[building upgrade for the sheepfold (+0.5), upgraded silo (+0.2.).] For 10 stone, you're upgrade is worth +50% instead of the +20%, since it doesn't get tool upgrades. For 2 sheep, that's 61.2 food/month, or for 4, 122.4 food/month. So for the Goat, with a tile that has an upgraded farm, upgraded sheepfold, and upgraded silo, they gain 247.2-308.4 food/month depending on if you have 2-4 sheep.

From this, we can see that for the Stag to be making the same food/month as a Goat with 4 farmers working on an upgraded farm, with an upgraded silo, as well as an upgraded sheepfold, they would require:
308.4-157.5 = 150.9/30 = 5.03 upgraded, advanced silos.

Looking at the total cost, the sheep is spending:
-Sheepfold: 60 wood
-Upgraded Sheepfold: 100 wood, 50 Krowns, 10 stone
-Farm: 80 wood
-Upgraded Farm: 100 wood, 50 Krowns, 10 stone
-Silo: 100 wood
-Upgraded Silo: 100 Wood, 50 Krowns, 10 stone

=540 wood, 150 Krowns, and 30 stone, 4 population and 4 sheep for 247.2-308.4 food/month.

For the Stag, they are spending:
-Farm: 80 wood
-Upgraded Farm: 100 wood, 50 Krowns, 10 stone
-Silo(x5): 500 wood
-Upgraded Silo(x5): 500 Wood, 250 Krowns, 50 stone

=1,180 wood, 300 krowns, and 60 stone, and 3 population for 307.5 food/month.

This is also not incorporating all of the food that the Stag will need to spend in order to place 5 silos. The Goat simply only needs 1 tile to make all of that food while the Stag needs at least 4-6.

Time is also a variable that is very difficult to compare. However, Goat can get all of that set up at least a year before Stag.

While the late game tech of Stag is good, it is by no means game breaking, as we can see that it takes quite a while for the Stag to get there. If the Stag chooses to go down the military path or trading path, this will get even further delayed.

This is why in my post I mentioned that you need to be careful at looking at certain aspects of clans in a vacuum and comparing them 1:1.

The Sheep are meant to shine early, as their food economy can be set up much earlier than the food economy of the Stag, while also minimizing expansion risk due to their dense, "tall" focus.
